Pianta Village, Day I don't really remember, but it was today:
Now for those of you who don't already know, whether you haven't accessed Pianta Village, or don't have Super Mario Sunshine, Pianta Village is a village supported by a huge tree, and under that, a bottomless pit. So, if you fall into that you lose a life, right? Well today, I didn't lose a life. Weird, huh?

Anyway, I was playing episode 3 of Pianta Village when it happened. I jumped off, trying to land on one of those toadstools under the village, and I missed it. I hit the toadstool trunk and kicked off, landing on the tree trunk. Then, I slid off into the abyss -- and landed below the level! It was like a Prime secret world! I'm still wondering how the heck it happened...
Thread title:
ok, that was just plain weird....

Could you move around or anything?
Ummm...  I think there is quest attached to the "glitch"

Like you jump down with a yoshi and you go someplace...  I could be wrong...  And if I am..  Then I too have seen this weird happening.

Yeah, I could move around...

No, there was definitely not.

Also, that wasn't the first time it happened.

Delfino Plaza, A few weeks before the glitch mentioned:

I was next to the Pianta that asks you for bananas, and a window you could spray with FLUDD, a Flash Liquidizing Ultra Dousing Device (I think that's what the acronym is short for)(a water pump), for a coin. I kicked off the wall and used FLUDD's Hover Nozzle to come back to the wall. Suddenly, the "in the sewers" music started and ended, and I was "in" the building, surrounded by blue. I lost a life immediately afterwards.
It happened to me once too. I miss it and I say,"Oh well.....................................I DIDN"T DIE?!?!?!?!!!!!!

I had fallen down the bottomless pit in Pianta villiage. I could move around. It looked very strange.
Yeah, this is a known clipping glitch, I heard about it less than a month after the game came out, with screenshots and everything.  I then tried to emulate it, but to know avail.

Everything needs to be stumbled upon once to be documented though.  =p
Yeah. As for what I thought:

"WTF!?!?!"

[edit] What the heck is a clipping glitch? :? [/edit]
I'll be back. Maybe...
Well I fell down that pit countless times
(esp. in Level Eight on the clouds)

and I never got stuck in a 'secret world'. Maybe it was fixed on the PAL version...

What is the point of that 'flood drain' level, apart from wasting about 50 of your lives. On most levels I never lose more than about 2 lives (even Noki bay L6), but that drain is quite ridiculous. I beat it eventually though...

In the players' guide it says about how you can get the SMS trophy on SSBM. I can't seem to get it though... maybe it's Japan only.
ditto Metroid Prime:Helmetless Samus.

Sometimes polygons aren't aligned just right, for whatever reason, and you can go THROUGH them, or maybe a crack inbetween them.  This is known as clipping.

What that glitch does, is go through one of those clipping glitches, and it brings to you a "secret world" as theyre better known here.
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
Actually, isn't clipping the fact that you CAN'T go through polygons? The cheat for walking through walls in Doom was called "no clipping."
Flood Drain Level?

Yeah, clipping is prevention of moving through polygons and/or collision detection....Doom taught me that as well.  :P

Flood Drain Level?

Flood Drain Level: A flood drain. The water is toxic, and you have to ride on a decaying lily to get 8 hard to get red coins.

To get there: Hatch a Yoshi and ride on boats until you get to the island with the stranded Pianta and blocked up pipe. Spray the blockade with Yoshi Juice and hop inside the pipe.

Edit: I found another glitch: go to Bianco Hills Stage 1: Road to the Big Windmill. When you get to the giant water-wheel, ride up and had to the "M" on the white wall. Take a few steps back and look at the source of the goop. You'll see one of two things:

1) the balls of goop will disappear in midair, or

2)the balls of goop will be invisible

In both cases, the shadow is still there...weird.

He answers nearly half a year later.  Shocked
I don't know if I should consider this a bump or just unneccessary.
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
What, was Meta Phantoon's post sent by snail mail across the world five times or something?
Everyone that has fallen sown into this "SW"... Did you try wall-crawling?  Wink
I went ahead and recorded this SW that me and my friends found like a month after the game was released:

Oh that Toxic water thing was atrocious. When I beat it, it had taken me 15 minutes. I'd get one or two then hover to the edge and walk, slooowly back.

I'd never want to do that again.

What was Noki Bay's L6? I had no trouble in that, just long looking for blue coins
