as part of an effort to reduce load on my poor little server i pay $100 a month for, using avatars/other material hosted at m2k2 or sda on sites other than m2k2 or sda will no longer work in most cases. i probably shouldn't have to say it, but i never approved the user accounts for hosting material for use on sites other than this one anyway. thank you for your understanding in this matter.

bandwidth not enough? :| Perhaps consider non streaming videos for the site for a while to see if that helps you out further...

has nothing to do with bandwidth. the fact is that the number of requests the http server has to handle has grown quite large, and the time it takes to handle each request is critical. sending a 403 ought to take way less time than serving an entire file, especially if the connection on the other end is slow.

:? I was using them over at SCU.  Mr. Mills was going to get me some space over there, but it didn't work and I never really cared to bother him about it.  But now my random avatars/sigs over there won't work. Crying or Very sad Too bad SCU wasn't included in the sites that linking will work too.

Apparently linking to files at other forums works when they open in new windows, but beyond that, I don't know. 

BTW, didn't post anything for that, just tested with the preview function.

I am still offering webhosting to anyone who wants it. I have 25 gb storage and 100 gb bandwidth for general file, image, and small website hosting. Also, there are unlimited mysql databases, email accounts, and some others. (All this is shared between anyone who is hosted by me)

so, wait exactly kind of files aren't here anymore? if I am reading right, if I host something on my webspace, and I link to it here, a.k.a. sig banner and whatnot, it's gone? or  am I mistaken and it is that people cannot upload to this site?

No, the other way around.  If you host something here or use an image here as a hotlink elsewhere that won't work now.
