Ok thanks for the repl but sadly it still doesnt work :( I have a (JU) Rom of super metroid and I removed the header and yet it stil doesnt work. But something did change, I got to the black screen but the sound of the file screen was still on yet the dialouge part didnt appear. I tried another (JU) and yet it doesnt work. BTW I am using ZSNES 1.51...
Acheron your the best! and im stupid. The problem was that i had to remove header then apply patch not the other way around. Thanks a lot! Oh, and keep up the good work on Aegis. Now lets play soup!
I used an infinite energy action replay code, as well as infinite super missiles (I ran out of missiles on mother brain, and the cheerios weren't giving me any). I didn't get the plasma beam.
Lol, I thought I was going to get a much higher completion percentage than I did. Couldn't find that final E-Tank for the life of me though.
5:30
This time was mostly due to the speedball puzzle in Maridia to get one of the E-Tanks (room right off of Mainstreet), I thought I had to begin the speedball from outside the room and spring ball up to the upper ledge. Wow did I over think that one.
Oh BTW, I was also able to grapple kill dragyon (actually I had to kill him that way, because I was getting my ass handed to me with the conventional method). Just takes precise timing and draygon trying to grab you from the left. I thought Ridley was a breeze, however I had 11 E-tanks + 3 Reserves so that probably made that fight quite a bit easier. I can see why he would be tough for others with less E-Tanks.
ONE charged spazer shot killed the ki-hunter even though they have much more HP than that. And I think turning around before I shot it actually made some sort of difference because it happened less often when I didn't turn around.
Harhar, this game would take so long to get consistent with to speedrun. Although I think I have the most trouble 2 rooms before Draygon with all that quicksand o.o And I can't get the grapple kill for the life of me.
I'll just keep posting rooms as I find new stuff when I play through. You made this hack just to annoy the crap out of me with all the creative speed tricks for almost EVERY room (I'm looking at you Ice Beam, Grapple, shinespark after Speed Booster, Spore Spawn, everything)
EDIT: doing some tests in Maridia Mainstreet to see if it was faster to grapple the crab and swing up or to climb normally. Climbing normally wins.
EDIT 2: Found a more consistent way to fight Gold Torizo.
The moment I get consistent enough is when it will be finished. It wasn't low % if for some reason you didn't notice :p. Sub hour is probably possible even for low %. I'm still aching over the fact I can't skip high jump boots.
Speedrunning won't be quite as much of a problem anymore because I've become a little looser on perfection. I wanted absolute perfection before, but I also wasn't sure if sub hour was possible. So if I get 00:55 or below, I'll be content.
SUPER DUPER EDIT: Oh Cardweaver, you're gonna love me forever for this one. I remembered Cpadolf's grapple shenanigans in that one minihack that Acheron made and I thought if I could remake what he did, I could do it. I don't even need to jump :].
Well slap me thrice and call me Charlie. Now there is no excuse for a lack of a low%. AND, it turns out i left some savestations in, so feel free to segment it.
You're silly Cardweaver. One of these days I'll get around to the low% (I don't even have my notes for the run anymore). I want to do the simpler, any% run first before low%.
But just to warn you 'cuz still don't know if you quite understand speedrunning. It takes FOREVER. It's hard work executing all of the tricks necessary (but I think I got kagoball down now :D) to complete just a single segment (seg 2 >.<). So it will take a while. A month if I'm really lucky and can somehow squeeze this in between homework and classes well enough.
awesome hack so far. great layouts for what rooms ive seen so far. im really stuck right now and need a hint. got speed booster, now where? ive spent somewhere around 2 hours trying to find out where to go.
my guess is powerbomb but i have no idea how to get past the water room that you speed boost in. i can get past the boost part but underneath that it looks like i need gravity suit to do a bomb jump on a block.
Thank you for the help i am now on my way through the rest of norfair. i do keep seeing a graphical problem that might just be because of my ips patcher or my SM copy. in rooms where you have added water the part above water is a lighter shade. there is a small section just above the water that looks fine. just wondering if its me or the game.
hopefully this is my last question about the game. ive gotten to ridley but am having serious problems with him. i have 8 super missiles, 90 missiles, 8 power bombs, and 11 energy tanks (including 2 reserves). are these sufficient stats to beat him? im thinking that i missed a few power ups because ive fired everything i have, and with the help of save states havent taken damage from Ridley. yet i still cant beat him. does anybody have any tips for me or could tell me if i should look for more power ups?
Great hack! I'm stuck though. Can't figure out where to go after the spring ball? I guess I need into Maridia but I can't seem to get in without PB's or the grapple, and I can't seem to get the grapple without the Gravaty Suit... I've been wondering around for a while. Any hints?
