Fine, I'll try (mainly works if you like fingers lined up), since I use this for SNES 1.43/1.51 and ZSNES 1.51:

Left Shift for Angle Up, Z for Dash, X to shoot, C to jump, V for Start, Space for Select, Arrow Keys to move, and Control or Numpad Zero (must be Num Lock off to switch it to Insert, because certain keyboards seem to keep Num Keys "locked", and be sure to disable the Turbo L and R keys on SNES 9X).
Quote from Sneaky Paradox:
I am having wall jump retardation with my controller. I can do it so much better with a keyboard yet my set up requires the use of alt which I can only use on ZSNES.

Anybody have a nice control scheme for snesx?

Since my scheme is so different than the above maybe it's useful to know?
A-numpad 0
B-numpad 6
Y-numpad 8
X-numpad 4
R-numpad 9
L-numpad 7
Arrow keys for movement.  Seemed useful since hands are reversed (though it might be worth mentioning this uses the bastardization of megaman-ish control to super metroid... I'm sorry).  Hitting L and R is a little awkward, but not horrible so.
I use:

a=left
s=down
d=right
w=up
q=aim up
e=aim down (q and e switch sometimes)
left=shoot
up=item select
down=dash
right=jump
enter=start
spacebar=item cancel

Hasn't failed me yet. Keep in mind, I'm on a laptop.... no number pad :(

And before it happens, lets try to avoid a mass argument about controller set ups. This is not the thread for that.

Ah, maybe I'll do a thread of Controller setups. On the other hand, I'll make a hack review thread.

There already is one. You just have to find it, since it was made a while ago.
I'm probably going to give up on this speed run. It's too tedious and it's hard to remember some of the rooms that have been changed.
Sadness! Don't give up!
.
For whoever read my last post earlier, scratch that. It was only the first 3 segments that were giving me the most trouble. I've decided to do those by have them be less than perfect.

Segment 1: is like space jump first in Prime. So very aggravating when missed.

Segment 2: has the best spore spawn fight I've gotten yet the worst Red Brinstar traverse.

Segment 3: Just Kraid and the high jump boots.

From this point on, the quality of the speed run will be much higher.

Just watched the first segment, and that was hella quick. Very nice, I thought it was nearly impossible to use a damage boost in that room.

Edit: watched the other two, and hot damn, you got two charge shots in on SS in one round... twice! Also, thanks for the interesting bomb torizo fight; thats more like what I thought it would be than just hide and shoot. Nice, interesting Kraid fight as well.
Thanks for the awesome comments. Norfair is a tricks segment mostly. I'm being extremely picky now since I screwed up so horribly in the first 3 segments. There is this mid-air morph around the start and it has to be perfect or it wastes too much time.

I will get the run on youtube when the entire thing is finished.

Wait, which version of SNES 9X did you record it on? 1.43 or 1.51?

Edit: Never mind, 1.43.
Just found something funny while I was messing around with speed boost timings in my norfair segment.

for whatever reason... it won't let me play this one. Says "Current loaded ROM image doesn't match that required by the freeze-game file."

There were mismatched CRC32 directories, but the clips still played. What the hell's going on?
I have no idea what the problem is with that... umm. I'll make it again later I guess.

But lucky y'all, a sneak peek at my next segment! This was just a failed attempt of mine to pull off everything so the real segment 4 will be released later on.

Many obvious mistakes and tricks I couldn't pull off will be fixed in the real version.

other than those glaring mistakes, some of those rooms look like perfection. Specifically, the first "grey" brinstar room is amazing.
Why oh why do I always seem to hit the dumbest snags in these hacks?

I've just started playing this hack, and so far having a lot of fun. But I'm stuck as to where to go next. I've got Morph Ball, Bombs, Missles. Bomb Torizo & Spore Spawn have been defeated and I'm clueless as to where the next path is. I've gone down to where the Morph Ball normally is in Crateria and collected the missle expansions. The only place I can still access is the water room above the Missle Expansion pack room on the far right of Lower Crateria. I've tried wall jumping off the blue door to the invisible bridge, but can't seem to make it.

Any help's appreciated. :)
Nevermind, I was able to get up there. Onward!
Quick off-topic question. How do I get your .smv's to work. I load up snes9x 1.51 & load the Super Metroid Soup Rom. I then go to 'Play Movie' and select your .smv's from a couple pages back. Everytime I do this, snes9x, says that the movie file is unsupported and that I need a different version of snes9x to play them.

Do I really need a different version of snes9x? If so, which version do I need? Thanks for the help.

SNES 9X Version 1.43, at least Improvement 9. The files are played from Save File A, so if you don't want to lose progress, copy them in another slot.

Thanks much. That did the trick. :)
Speaking of smvs... I was fooling around in Tourian and left the giant metroid room with it still on me.

I know this has been found, but its on the Soup rom, so i thought i'd post it here. Also, check out the diagonal bomb jumping shenanigans at the end.

Now I think I know why my CRC32 didn't match while watching Sneaky's run. It's probably the version differences of Soup.
I have the latest version of Soup.

No progress being made. I'm being lazy.
