I hate asking noob questions... It doesn't work, I have Super Metroid (JU) ! and I can't get it to work. Named it all correctly and everything. Help?

Your best bet would be to add/remove a header and then try to patch the file again. If you read back near the first couple of pages of posts, several people had similar problems, and everything near the first pages is in a spoiler so no worries about sekret tech.

I'm up for LN now, but where is plasma?

And that grey door before gravity suit was just plain annoying, I spent a unbelievable amount of time in that room seeking for alternate ways and hidden enemies and the only reason I got past it was because I figured if I recharged on the pipebugs I could take the missile in the lava lake...

Also I was a little confused when I escaped from draygons area, in the room with a lot of spikes and crumble blocks I spent a lot of time trying to get past and finally was able to jump through a block that was solid the other way through, (in the stair) where you supposed to get through that way?

The plasma beam is
in the old pink brinstar energy tank room, past the charge beam upgrade.

Tell me about it ._. Really hated that place. Could have been fine with 3-4 bugs, but 10? That's far too much.

You are supposed to exit his area through
the quicksand after botwoons room.

Ok sorry but I feel really lazy today, how do you enter the room past chargebeam. The old pipe is blocked (ofcourse)

If you have not found it yet:

Close to the charge beam-rooms entrance, there is a hidden morph ball tunnel.

Almost happy
OMG what's wrong with me, I can't find the damn morphball tunnel to LN. Where is it specifically (I'm getting really tired but want to finish this today.)

Also I really really hope that Fano if he actually decides to do/finish a TAS of this game won't do norfair before kraid, pauseabuse is such a mood killer.
Downloaded and played through this hack the past few days.  It's like what a 2nd Quest of SM would be if it existed in the original game.

About an hour ago I finished the game.

Very clever idea on how to get to the X-Ray Scope.  I kinda had a hunch to try something like I did and it payed off.

Bosses were easy overall.  Ridley was the only one to pose any threat at all and yet I still beat him with over half my energy (13 E-Tanks) and all 4 reserve tanks still intact.

Mini-bosses...well, if you count fake Kraid, I'm embarassed to admit I died 3-4 times to that freak :P.  Aside from that, the only mini-boss that was challenging (And actually the toughest fight in the whole game) happened to be Botwoon.

Took me multiple tries (Savestated right outside Botwoon's room and reloaded when I failed), but I eventually beat it without needing to CF once.  I was nearly dead though (All reserves emptied and ~20 energy left when the health appeared).  Didn't savestate at all during the battle for that matter as well.

Finally...I saved the animals while escaping.  Still had over a minute left when I reached the ship and escaped.

Nice little hack that kept me interested the whole time.
Every Bit Counts
Sorry Cpadolf, if I decide to TAS this hack, I will do Norfair before Kraid. Mini-Kraid would be too hard to optmize. That would create a huge time loss. And pause screen abuse looks bad, but save a ton of time. I actually wouln't be TASing as fast because I'm working on a hack atm.

Cleartime: 03:28. Itemcollection 66%. Animals saved (is that even worth mentioning? It's no harder than in the original...)

I will not search for all the remaining items, I might give botwoon a go but usually when I have finished a hack once I leave it there.

You should definitely give botwoon a go. Especially if you want a challenge.

Fano said that if he did one, his TAS would be any %. There probably wouldn't be quite as much pause abuse. And really, I watched the pause abuse section once, and now i just tab turbo through those parts whenever Kriole releases a new WIP.

Glad to see that you guys (Cpadolf, Blueglass, and Anima Zero) enjoyed gravy.

Yeah. It's a big if. All of my TAS projects are stalled until I finish my hack (look at sig). My order of TASes (after I finish my hack) would probably end up like 7%NBMB -> Gravy any% -> 14% -> any%NBMB. I should be done with all of them by summer next year (it's November 27, 2007 here). But it might be extended. I expect to finish the hack sometime in Jaunary.

Overall this was one of the more enjoyable hacks I have played of Super Metroid, mainly because I don't like planless exploring very much. (that's the same reason I liked SM:I, you always more or less knew where to go even though some places was hard to find entrance to)

It had a few dips in entertainment, where hard turned to annoying and tedious and some illogical puzzles. (hate that WS lake grey door) But mostly it was good fun.

Congratulations on making one of the few hacks I've actually thought was worth taking the effort to finish.

How come I always collect the least items of all... Same with SM:I. I'm lazy.

Glad you, uh, deemed it worthy. And actually, the first person I used to test it (my brother) only got 47%. He wasn't too happy. The first time I played through I managed to forget where a couple tems were and only got 92%, which is pretty bad considering I'm the one who hid the items...

Maybe I expressed myself badly, I really liked it.

Also I just defeated botwoon (prepared for him the really lazy way, went to him with 100% in a smv of the original game placed myself next to the door made a short smv and loaded it in gravy) it took 1 CF and a couple of savestates. I liked it, it was something totally new.
S'ok Cpadolf. Glad you liked Botwoon. I assume that the springball helps a lot with him (When testing I didn't have the springball... Actually its probably a good thing. Had I used the springball while testing, He may have been even harder.)
Almost happy
Yeah springball helped a lot. I was quite surprised by him though, I did not expect to have to beat him with bombs, I imagined him to be vulnerable to chargebeam and supers but that he would have 10000-20000 hp and the acid would be constant.

BTW why didn't you make him hard at all until 1.2 (he seemed to be unchanged in 1.1)? Was he just supposed to be stuffed away because you dislike him or what?
Because he wasn't part of the main path, I kinda forgot about him until Lance mentioned him being too easy. I actually love him as a boss. But I couldn't gauge how hard he would be without opinions, and I didn't want people to be: z0mgs t3h b055 wtf n00b!? I wanted everyone to enjoy the hack, not get pwned by it. So i compromised by fixing him in v1.2 and by making him an optional challenge. I wish now that I had made him necessary for the E-tank in the room next to him. The nhe would've fit better into the game.
Almost happy
Yeah I thought the same thing, if you make a 1.3 you should put that tank inside the blocks that hinders you to enter botwoon backwards. It makes sense to have a final challenge for the the 100th item.
Almost happy
Sorry doublepost.

Recent studies reveals that botwoon is beatable in 2 rounds with a loss of no more than 3 E-tanks, pwnage was aided by TASing tools.

1.2 ofcourse, dunno exactly which rom but I only got 1 out of 5-6 to work so I guess you should have the same. I recorded on Snes9x 1.43 improvement9.

Uhm. I'm using gravy 1.2 (JU)-patched. I'll check if some other version works.
I'll have to watch the smv later, my computer died. (spyware problems=no emulators on the other computer) but I'm sure it'll be awesome.

Oh, and continuing with the current trend: I'm currently chowing down on a Lean pocket/sprite combination.
