Nintendo has put out a statement explaining why both Metroid: Other M and Sin and Punishment 2 have been delayed. I think their explanations make a lot of sense!

"The launch date for Metroid: Other M has shifted to Aug. 31. As you may know, this game is the product of a unique partnership between longtime Metroid producer Yoshio Sakamoto, Team Ninja and many other individuals and groups, all of whom have set very high standards for this latest installment in the series. Although it's taking slightly longer than expected to complete the project, we're confident that fans will find it to be well worth the wait.

We're striving to provide the best possible pacing for our summer game launches. A June 27 launch allows gamers to enjoy Sin & Punishment: Star Successor without having to rush through Super Mario Galaxy 2 (May 23)." - Nintendo statement

the only game they didn't delayed on the wii was wario land... dont remember anyother game.

nintendo tends to announce games once they're about finished, then just they sit on them until the financially best time to release them.

Which seems really stupid to me. They have more time to work on the game, so they should use it. I get trying to space their games out to maximize the year, but it still seems wrong to me that they'd just let the game sit when they could use the time to make some modifications, or at least run the game through some extra testing or something else productive. (Although I get that they can use the people that would be working on Metroid and move them to other projects if needed, meaning that there wouldn't be anyone available for the game in the first place.)

I doubt they're even spacing it from other releases.  If it's slipped from August, it smacks of Christmas, if you ask me.

that costs money though, so it would undo any money gained from the delay.

this gen nintendo has delayed games very little compared to past gens.
anyone remembers the N64? practically every major game whent though a few delays.
the wii is a paradise next to that. i can think of very little games that have seen delays this gen. Other M and.... SSBB and possibly mp3 but i don't remember dates prior to the final one.

at least the games have a better chance to sell now. 3 big games in 1 month is too much for the average consumer and it was easier to have 1 of them get lost in the shuffle.
