I've been attempting a 1% nonspeed run, and I'm kinda... stuck at Nightmare. About my 330th attempt or something (I'm like 400 now, maybe more... gurgle) I noticed something interesting.
Normally, when you hit Nightmare's damage zones, you get hurt no matter what. If you're space jumping, and have the charge beam fully charged, and hit his ball or his face (depending on what phase he's in), it'll do the charge attack damage, and you'll still get hurt (unless you hit his face and it deals the final blow... maybe).
There is one exception to this rule.
If you have a full charge and are space jumping (so you can't do this when he's in gravity mode), you can go right through his arms without taking any damage whatsoever.
This really helps for his last stage of not-yet-Core-X-ness, where you gotta evade him.
Unfortunately, I do not have any method for recording this trick. Maybe someone else could try? In the meantime, I'll try to locate an emulator, or something.
