Thread title:
Nice, go zoidi! Good job, I'll probably never be able to do anything near that...oh well, i can dream...
I have never met this Zoidi fellow, but that time is damn awesome nonetheless. I got some 1:38 action in normal/any today -- next up for me is to break 1:30.

How low, can it go! How low, can it go!

On PAL too, heh. Early SJ of doom, double HP for many bosses, only thing you've got going for you is no ridely no-stun. I think <1:10 is looking up...
HOLY SHIT! That's amazing! I have to watch that in the morning.
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
Just finished watching it. Real good run. Nice work by Zoidi.
I MUST watch this! Having to go through the mines normally really hurts my speed. But I can't watch it yet............ I'm in college. Gotta watch it at home!
i'm downloading some parts now,i think there amazing, cuz the pal verison isnt great for speed runs(i have PAL)because of all the changes

so,nice job!

[edit]I just saw a difference,cause:

i own the Players Choice PAL version of Metrroid Prime, and there are NO space pirates in the Frigate Chrash Site(exept the flying pirates),and in that version there are[/edit]
Yeah in my version at the entrance to the frigate there's a half dead one.
wow i guess PAL is less limiting then i thought O_o

With this run, my Metroid movie folder is now larger than my WINDOWS folder. And it's almost all m2k2.

THAT'S impressive.
it doesn't stop, we just keep coming and coming!

...
I've got 2.58 GB of M2K2 on my computer and about a 700 megs of regular Metroid stuff (music, pics, etc).

*starts downloading zoidi's run*

:P
Gathering together all my Metroid-related stuff and rooting out the non-Metroid stuff in the same folders would take forever, so I can't get an accurate size, but I'm guessing I have well over a GB of Metroid-related stuff, over half of it being runs downloaded from here. Because of m2k2 I'm actually having to start putting some thought into what I do and don't download instead of just saying "yeah, of course I can download it, I have tons of space," which is what I've been doing for the last year.

That said, I should really get round to downloading Zoidi's run myself sometime.
one thing i never have to worry about hosting content this popular is that if, for whatever reason, all of my copies of it spontaneously combust, there will be multiple places to regain it.
I've downloaded all the m2k2 videos, except I sped them up 50% and replaced the soundtrack with "Yakety Sax".  So I might not be the most reliable video backup source.
I download all the MK2K videos i can, then i burn them to a disc, saves me previous space for anime.

Amateur ;)

That wouldn't even have fit on my old PC!
Did Zoidi cheat?  I think he did.  When he faced his first Sheegoth, (To get the Wave Beam) it dies in three rounds of bombs-In the PAL Version!  It took me double that time or more-and I have the NTSC Version!

Was this a cheat or was it a version difference?

someone who knows more about bombing sheegoth (tzyr/kip) should explain this, not me, but basically you can do it that quickly in either version, you just have to know what you're doing (and have a bit of luck, too). it has to do with when you place your bombs, exactly -- i.e. the sheegoth needs to do its "ouch" animation every time it gets hit.

also be aware that zoidi does the risky "introductory bombs" - he bombs sheegoth on approach, then barely has time to bomb it again the first time it breathes. exciting stuff.
This run is full of that kind of stuff... just like a movie.  You know how it's going to end, yet it's still just as dramatic.  See segment #8.
Well done Zoidi. I'm glad to see that (at least for some days) both speed records are from a PAL player !

I'll try to find the time to watch it in the days to come.
Nate -- would a 1:33 make the rankings? Because that's pretty much what I'm pulling off these days. I need a capture card, however.
