OMG FLAN!!!!!!!
I'm not going to tell you exactly what this patch does, just patch it to a clean *unheadered* rom and find out :D
In case you see nothing different, go to the room straight to the left of the Ship). I know many peoples will check in SMILE, but PLEASE play it in game before looking in SMILE, or it will ruin the surprise.

You can use this freely in your hacks, if you could ever find a suitable use for it. ASM pointer is F000.

I applied Kej's Kraid music hack, then messed around with it in a hex editor for five hours. Now I know how the music works well enough to add custom music to the game pretty much. It's actually quite simple to be honest.

There's up to eight channels or tracks playing at once in any song (the one I made uses 3). Each channel can have different volume settings, panning, other effects, etc. There's bytes to tell the game to play a note. Each note is exactly the same length, so another byte after that tells the game to continue the note or add a space. When the next byte is read that signals a note, that note is played. And it continues like that. Each channel can only play one note at a time, so there can be a maximum of 8 notes played at any one time (including held notes). Each channel can have loops of notes, that play in succession before another section, and you can set how many loops are played.

*note if you try editing in music* When one channel finishes it's part (and there aren't any loops, ALL channels restart as well. I don't know why, but you'll need to just add more loops to whichever channel finishes to early if the sound is getting cut off.

I bet you're the first to use music hack. Thanks answering my question.
OMG FLAN!!!!!!!
Aside from creating music for Impulsion and someone else which I won't disclose because they may not wish me to, I also wrote a another theme, which you should all know.

It's actually the Super Mario Theme :D. I asked Squishy if he'd like to use it for RC, but he hasn't gotten back to me yet (why not Squishy!? I be sadfaced :( <--see?)

Anyway, the patch is unheadered as always.

If that could get the instruments changed to what's used in...  Lower Norfair or something, somehow...  That would be awesome. Cool

It'd be serious, but silly at the same time.
OMG FLAN!!!!!!!
Yeah it would, but I still don't understand how to load a new set of instruments. I can change instruments from the group selected, but that's it.
I'll ask Kej on IRC if I remember, cause it would certainly help.
