I think I got a perfect solution:
I will let all 4 reserve tanks be available before GT, but I will put one in a place where it will be very hard to get. My beta tests resulted a 9 tank minimum-requirement to get it. :)
Only downside is, I have to break the 1 reserve tank in each sector tradition and put 2 in one of them and remove the only one from the other sector. Not a problem I guess, since we are not in the original anyway.

I'm also thinking of changing some last design-flaws, and also some item locations to optimitze the "item value"/"difficulty to get it" matter without changes in the overall progress route. That way useful items will no longer be "on the way" and will require extra detours to get them.

There will also be a new designed hidden place that will have a important item. Shouldn't be that hard to figure it out though, since everybody will know that it's there, so only finding the right entrance to it will be the problem. :)

If all goes well, v1.5 will be ready tomorrow evening!
Oh yeah, cant wait for that!

This is starting to feel like I am going to play a whole new hack next time! (yeah I know its basically the same, but still...)

These new changes intrigue me, it looks like we need some more creativity in this new version.

Are you hiding some item to introduce yet another glitch perhaps? (if you think answering that will spoil something, then just ignore)

Oh, and one more thing... I believe these "introductions" do not appear several times, so I assume there is no other need in this game to use the ceiling glitch except the tube missiles? (And snake supers of course :P )

(yeah I am asking you undirectly that I dont at least have to arbitrarily glitch through a ceiling to find that x-ray)

*Begins to have nightmares about ceiling glitching every possible ceiling block in Brinstar, Norfair, and Maridia.*

Yes, kind of. It's not really a glitch, but it's a never before used trick to hide it. ;)

Haha... Snake Supers will most likely fail as well now. 8-)

This are such smart questions that no matter how I answer will already give a pointer. I would say, If you think logically you should get the solution by yourself. :)

Just began playing this hack and so far i am impressed by the difficulty, but find it realy fun to play.

what is your intended low% though, get the feling you will nedd like all etanks ore something...
Cpadolf, not all e-tanks, but quite a bit yes. Intended low% is an interesting thought, because you would have to calculate the absolute minimum to survive certain conditions... Maybe we will see a low% run of this hack some day too. What would look pretty good, I just know it.

I think I know what you are up to, but I will keep my mouth shut not to spoil anything for anyone. Well I might be wrong, but I have a pretty big hunch  :D

So you finally did something for this. Made the exit entirely out of crumble blocks?  :(
If not, I will still try my best to infiltrate there (yeah I doubt it is possible anymore, ruining your effort one time already is enough reward for me  grin new  )

I have been thinking this one for a while. Bouncing around mindlessly is useless now, all I have to do is sharpen my razor and go. The problem is that my mind is kinda dull right now, all I can do is hope for some inspiration.
Sorry for the delay guys, I just couldn't finish it yesterday. There are still some tests on the changed rooms left I have to do first, but I will try to get it done today, or at most tomorrow.

Geting it done accurate is better than doing it quick and sloppy after all.

Hmm :|  currently stuck after getting the first pb and getting all the new missiles you get acces to... get the feeling that i have way to little items

30 missiles
10 super
3 e-tanks
hjump
5pb
spazer
charge

Beaten kraid,phantoon,spore,torizo,crocmire.

Get the feeling i have to little patience to find my way through the whole game, my patience lies in performing hard tricks, not finding sneaky entrances, still great hack saturn i must just find some motivation to play through.

I have wondered for quite some time to, does the people who finished the hack already use savestates... i mean really does anyone have that kind of ethernal patience?
Cpadolf, you have plenty of items (wow, even the charge already), proceed to Maridia at once!  :D

The reason I like this hack is because I dont have to search for sneaky items. They are not that hard to find (x-cept x-ray :P ). So this one indeed requires a lot more hard tricks than sneaky entrances. If something is missing, all you have to do is ask.

And yes, everybody uses save states to play this hack, it is "impossible" without. Surely you can use them sparingly and try everything many times, but to avoid frustration, it is very recommended to use save states (at some difficult jumps for example, you dont want to climb up over and over again for a while just to try it again).

I surprised myself when I beat this hack third time around, I had "only" a couple of hundred save states made. But that was when I already knew what to do and how. So this hack indeed needs some abuse of the save states.

Do you mean you have to have patience using save states or not using them? I get the feeling you mean the first one, but that does not make much sense now does it  :)
Getting through this hack without any save states really does require some eternal patience.

Saturn, dont rush with publishing the new version, take your time with it. As you said, it is better to do it right the first time rather than hurry an unfinished product. At least I can wait  :)

Well i would say you still need patience even when using savestates, DBJ took me well over 150 tries beacuse i never done it before and all that. Still i try not to use savestates to much AI ruining the hellish bossfights but not saving before DBJ to WS for example would just make me kill someone eventualy...

Another question, are you suposed to be under water alot before getting gravity suit?

Can't wait to see a low% TAS of this but i don't really expect someone to do it... who the hell would want to... But an any% whould also be great.
Quote from Cpadolf:

Correct, you'll be underwater for the entireity of your journey in Maridia.  That means you get to fight Botwoon and Draygon in the power suit.  Have fun  :P .
Good luck on Draygon CPadolf, you'll need it... I can tell you at first it feels impossible task, but once you realise you have to use a lot of savestates, I think you'll kill him. :P

Oh, and you are aware of what's coming after beating the whole Maridia and collecting enough items?  grin new
Waaaaaaa i want insanity
yeah good luck with the draygon fight, it took me ages. and i mean ages. (about 6-8 hours of play and a lot of savestates) And you will have to be fast with the ridley fight. Any way i finally beat it today so i will join the hunt for the x-ray.
Almost happy
Acualy draygon did'nt toake that long, 30 min or so with a load of savestates, still it was spectaculary hard, i just thank god that i found charge beam before going down to him...

And yes i am veary aware of whats waiting me, LN has been my big fear of this run...

I now have

60 missiles
10 supers
10 PB
6 E-tanks
1 Reserve
Grapple
Charge
Spazer
Hjump

Beaten kraid, spore, croc, botwoon, phantoon, dragoyn.

Wich item should i have before entring LN, how many E-tanks, supers and aditional special items (gravitysuit wave plasma)?
You can't get wave beam or the gravity suit before the Varia and killing Ridley, get used to that.
Almost happy
Ok hehe i thought so, it would seem almost humane to alow gravity before LN laugh new

Oh well, time to go for scavenger hunt grin new
Cpadolf:

To give you an idea of how very prepared you can be going into LN, here's my stats before I went in there...

11 E-Tanks
4 Reserve Tanks
155 Missiles
25 Super Missiles
35 Power Bombs

That isn't even the maximum amount of items you can have.  I never got the snail supers in Maridia, so another 5 Super Missiles there (Wasn't there a normal missile expansion there too?).

If you don't have Space Jump, I'd recommend you get that as soon as you get the Plasma Beam (Need the Spring Ball from Maridia to get to it).  It'll be very very useful in LN (Perhaps even required I think).

And...knowing how to CF :P.  Silly I know cause you probably already know how to do it, but regardless...you will need to CF once at the minimum (Before Ridley).  It might be two if you can't get to the E-Tank before GT quickly enough.  You are expected to CF before GT, but if quick enough with enough energy (341 energy and 4 full reserves at least), you can make it to the pre-GT E-Tank without needing to CF.

Of course, as I stated, you are expected to CF before GT.  What I did (I was the first one to find out you can get to the pre-GT E-Tank w/out CF) is going to be fixed in the next version, so take of that what you will.

And good luck in LN when you get there.  You'll need it :P.
Okay I think that one guy that I couldn't understand posted a picture how to get those snail supers with the grapple beam, so that's how if I'm right.

Second Plasma Beam is not necessary in LN, it just needs incredible skill. Again, IF I'm right BlueGlass made it through LN without the Plasma Beam? Still I recommend you take it, because BlueGlass is just Super Metroid elite player and skipping it makes the LN hundreds of times harder.
Almost happy
Yea bluglass made it without plasma Shocked  im going to take it though, i have a good idea about were to get springball that im going to test soon, then its of to plasma and all the other items before LN.
Quote from Anima Zero:

Wow, I never even thought of getting the snail supers before LN but that might be pretty tedious with the power suit. The upcoming version will not even allow it so I will try not to get excited about trying that...  :)
Getting them the normal way is impossible since you would have to do short-charge to pass that wall.

Also, boys, dont tell everything straight to mr. Cpadolf, the part of enjoyment is to experience things before seeing them in the forum.
Almost happy
Well they did'nt exactly tell me what to do, just what i need to get not were... anyways i have springball plasma and spacejump now, going for speedbooster next i think, and since there are few places i have'nt been to i think i know were it is. Then speedbooster probably will let me acces many new items and then it's of to the big callange in the hack... can't wait Wink
Since my last post, I haven't played, Been staying at my bros for a week. Tonight i'll be back at my computer to play.

My Last saved was at Drayon , I didn't want to atemp to use the keyboard to play this anymore extra_smug

So this week, I bought this sweet Controller to try it out tonight laugh new

Mission complete

Cleartime 05:40

Item precentage 65%

Ridley was a bit dissapointing, i found GT much harder... Still LN was really hard with only 7 Energy tanks and 4 Reserv, i got the energy from when GT died when i had like 10 energy left, and that was with a lot of luck manipulation. Great hack saturn  Wink
Wow that was a pretty fast completion within these couple of days, congrats! Your in-game time is not that bad either.

I assume you had to CF before GT? Your opinion about that fight makes the choice of leaving that e-tank there before the fight even more valid  :)
Almost happy
Yea i had to CF right after the elevator, but seriously did no one else then me find the GT fight and even dragoyn much harder then ridley?
I mean with ridley all you had to do was to enter withy enough missiles and energy beacuse all you had to do in the fight was to aviod him (rather easy) and shot fast enough (also easy) but GT was harder to avoid, had protection from chargebeam and was impossible to hit with regular missiles if he did not do certain things,so basicly you had to manipulate luck.

Even with TAS i doubt you can go in to LN with less then 10 E-tanks but it shall be veary interesting to see if anyone can  :P. As i stated a low% TAS of this Hack would basicly be the most interesting run i could think of but i doubt that anyone will ever do one.
