Am I the only one who thinks that every Prime game looked way better (in graphics) than this game?

seriously? you think the prime games looked BETTER???? wow.

Quote from noah-x:
This trailer (and the E3 one too) shows that it will not have great graphics as MP trilogy. Period.

are you guys watching the same trailers I am? things look a lot smoother, higher res, and lush.

then again, I didn't really like the prime games at all, they were never metroid to me.

Even if you don't like prime, you should morph-ball in metroid prime 3 (in first person doesn't look as great, but it looks good anyway), and watch how GREAT the floor looks (mainly some bryyo and Elysia places), and then you can do the same with the walls. Easily, MP3 is the game with best textures in any nintendo system, and M:OM looks pretty bad when compared to it.

PS- MP1 textures are not as great, but it has a better artstyle than most of the games in this generation.

The SM end cutscene actually looks worse to me than any in game stuff so far. :/

Really? I thought it looked awesome.

Yeah, I don't know it's just every time I see it (every promotional anything so far) it's just... eh. Something about the look is just off to me. Mother Brain looks like a piece of shit though, like literally a piece of shit. It's weird.
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/japanese-gameplay-metroid-other/63921 Look the Japanese alternative trailer... its better than American vs...

And if u dont like other m! Go play the fucking Metroid prime for ever....
don't mind if i do, actually.
I can't help but wonder what that thing she fires at 1:30 on the NA trailer is....
It;s not a Super Missile.......
From the trailer we can gather a few things...
returning items we already knew of:
Ice Beam
Speed Booster
Charge Beam
Missiles
Morph ball
wall jump

Returning items new to the trailer:
Power Grip
Screw Attack

New(?) items:
A strange charge wave that opens the grate the morph ball slides under, could be the charge beam but could also be a new one

we can see that the first person aiming isn't limited to firing missiles, you can also fire beams or charged beams, you can also by the looks of it scan various things.

the lock on seems to work well and doesn't look as annoying as I was imagining.

The areas are more expansive and lush than what we are used to, Samus is in a bog/forest area at one point, there's a good chance we will be visiting planets other than the bottle ship.

there are some new bosses/enemies we will encounter, the weird armadillo thing she wrestles with and blows away with a charge shot, the dinosaur looking creature that is chasing her at one point, the odd eye with tentacles that grabs her and shakes her about, the lizard creature she throws by the tail, the large fish-like lava creature and the purple tentacled creature made up of bugs.

the games graphics look very detailed and glossy, I think we were all a little worried when we saw the first person screens and all there was to see was grey walls and metal hallways, but in the trailer seeing the lush forest and water effects make me think it will be nice to look at, and hopefully fun to play!

did anyone else notice anything I missed?
P.S
The EU don't get the game till September 24th, I have to wait a whole 3 months longer than the US!
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
I hope that's not the case when the time comes, as that's a pretty bad delay nowadays.  If that IS the case, I may have to just get the US one instead.
As I've said in the past, I see the graphical style as "Metroid Zero Mission in 3D." It's very stylized.  It's not trying for the realistic look of the Prime series, it's trying for a futuristic, glossy, bright look, one that reminds me very much of MZM.

Also, I'm pretty sure the mole on her face is supposed to be a beauty mark if various statements from Sakamoto are to be believed.  I think I read it in that interview with him from right before Super Metroid came out.  It's on MDB somewhere.

The problem is that the forest area doesn't really follow that rule very well, Samus looks a little weird running around there. Might be intentional though.

the names and avatars are all messed up!
She looks more like the Brawl Samus than anything else.

Well considering that Fusion and MZM both didn't really have any outdoor areas other than MZM's rocky crateria, there's not much from those games to draw on for graphical inspiration so they may have looked more at the Prime games.
Hmm. Hope they are creative when creating the barriers between areas.
I'm a little anti-elevator at this point. a couple would be okay, but there are lots of ways to travel between two points you know? especially in a sci-fi universe.
Club 27 Goals
Teleporters! Exciting!
Just as expected, gimmicky eye-candy.

Too much spectacle, no substance.

I think I'll skip this one.
how can you tell it's not fun to play if you haven't played it? i mean getting turned off by the visuals is one thing but maybe it's just so good you can put up with it ...

What kind of substance do you expect from a Metroid-game being developed for Wii or gameboys?

The idea of not liking / disliking something before trying it clearly escapes some people.

So... only the original, Super, and Prime 1 and Prime 2 are any good now? When did that happen?

Never claimed Prime is good, only a rich Metroid-game is potentially better for xbox360 or a ps3, simply because of the controller. The devs know it, but they wont admit it.

You do realize it is J-SNAKE you're talking to right?
Yeah, but part of that was me realizing how few of the games were excluded from such constraints.
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
Forum survival tip: Never respond to anything J-SNAKE says ever. It only leads to bad things.
red chamber dream
yeah it's impossible to develop a good wii game. certainly wario land 6 is no exception.
