Hey there :)

I've been trying out some of the hacks as recommended in that other thread I've started, and I've been enjoying Super Metroid Legacy quite a bit... however, I've become stuck. I've looked at the map posted by someone else here, and I'm pretty certain I'm at the right area... but at both entries I've come up against brick walls... or more accurately, grey doors. I'll post a few screens since it might help...

Ok, first, this is the map created by that other guy - well actually it's the section I think I need to get to next, with the bits I'm stuck at highlighted.

The circle down the bottom on its own is the first pic below, and the right-most of the two upper ones is the second one. The third one is a grey door just above the tube you smash with Power Bombs.

Here are pics of the two areas I think I have to go from, according to the map...

In that last pic, there's a speed booster block that can be smashed through by doing the run, crouch, jump move, and I found a speed run that does that, but I am assuming that's not the only way in since nowhere else in the game so far has required super-short charges or any other "special" skills (mockballing, speedballing, crystal flash, etc.).

Is there another way in that I'm missing? Or do I have to do a super-short-charge to get to the next area?

I appreciate any help people here can give - I can supply .zst files of those two locations if playing around would help jog memories.

Metroid Exp: Exploration - Great, Skills - Decent
You need to beat Draygon to get up to the Noob Tube room and eventually to Botwoon. You cannot do a super short charge in the room you are referring to, and that second door is exit only after you beat Botwoon. The first door is exit only from the X Ray scope area, only accessible via the Noob Tube. Draygon is in the other section of Maridia, north and west of your ship. Beating Draygon is the only way to really open up the section of Maridia you are in. He split Maridia into two distinct sections.
Thank you for the help, Lawrence! I guess all my years of familiarity with Super Metroid made me unlearn the idea of exploring other areas when you hit a wall somewhere :D

Thanks again!
Kneel before the great & powerful chOZo
Just finished playing through this hack for the first time.  I really enjoyed it, wasn't too easy and wasn't too hard.  I've played through GD, RD, and SFI and so far this one is my favorite.
I know this is a very old thread to post in, but the hack help/hack list sticky directed me here.

I have a problem with applying the Legacy patch in conjunction with the Control Freak patch. I've been able to run both the patches individually, but the Control Freak patch only works on an unheadered ROM (as it should) while the Legacy patch has worked only on a headered ROM. Applying both patches in unheadered and headered ROMs has failed (in headered, the screen blacks out after the file select screen; in unheadered, after the intro scene with Samus' ship heading to Ceres). I don't know what to do. Is there any way to apply both? If this is impossible, is there any hack similar to Legacy (full game redesign; difficulty can vary, just not impossibly hard) for which both patches work? Thanks.

This is just a guess, but could you not patch Legacy to the headered version, load SMILE and remove the header, and then patch with Control Freak?

I await being corrected... Anxious

It might not be feasible.  But if you can try what Quietus said....  Well, I hope it works for ya.  Someone else that knows for SURE should be along shortly to verify. :-)
OMG FLAN!!!!!!!
Wait. What's the Control Freak patch? First I thought it was another hack, but two hacks obviously can't be meshed together. So I'm guessing it's some kind of physics change or items or map or something...

I thought you could apply numerous patches?

Justin Bailey + hack?
Control freak + hack?

Also, in SMILE: Tools > IPS > Apply entire folder... Eh?
You can apply multiple patches, although not without occasional unintended consequences.  As pointed out, I'm pretty sure you can apply Justin Bailey with about any other patch.  Probably a few others too.

I've heard anecdotes of applying multiple hacks and getting all kinds of strange, strange stuff.  Haven't tried much of that myself.

It's probably the only combination I haven't tried yet. Maybe SMILE will make a difference. I've been using Lunar IPS. Thanks.

I can't see that SMILE will do anything .ips-wise that Lunar won't.  I only mentioned SMILE, as it's an easy method for adding / removing the header.

Good luck! Very Happy
