Well, I've almost beaten the game and I can't say I'm too disappointed, despite the (not so) subtle Fusion influences. I feel that, more than anything else, this game is Metroid Prime all over again, both the good parts and the bad. Granted there's some dialog and numerous boss fights, but it's hardly Adam we're dealing with :P. For sequence breaking fans, things will probably be tough :(. I've noticed a few locked doors around. Though it was my fault to be stupid, there'll no doubt be more locked doors when we tackle items out of order. But hey, I find sequence breaking a secondary aspect of Metroid games. I didn't love Prime more because of sequence breaking; I just played it more. With that note aside, the only complaint about the game is the fact that I have to gather keys... 18 fucking keys... Good thing versus Prime is that they don't count for completion. But I hated the Artifact gathering in Prime and it's bigger than ever! Oh well... Graphics are beautiful and the sound is another throwback to the 2D gaming era. In a good way that is :P. And best of all, Echoes has more new items than any other Metroid game, some of which are just simply astounding. And I thought Metroid reached its limit with creativity... All in all, I'll give it 9/10, unless something seriously pisses me off the last few hours.

Edit: Ended in a positive note. I managed to finally die against one of the last bosses :P. The ending is a bit lackluster (like Prime's) but it was funny. Now off to the sequence breaking world (hopefully).
