NBMB in MZM

I'm currently trying to do some NBMB Hard (Speed)runs(just for fun, and I could only make movies with VBA, so.....). When I thought abot which route would be the fastest, I was wondering if anyone has done the HBJ over the Rio Room in a NBMB. I think it's possible but I suxX at HBJ.
So has anyone ever done it? (Note: The Rio Room changes when you kill Kraid. If you don't kill him( and you don't do this in a NBMB, do you?;), the Rios should be ALL on the left side of the room)

And it is currently impossible to get more than 46%, is it?

I think the real problem in a NBMB-run is the room before the elevator to Tourian.

Try doing a NBMB in Fusion, THEN you can call youself a metroid master.

NBMB in Fusion? That's 4 % before Archanus(?), but you can't save. Wow!

60% in MZM? That's like impossible! (Unless you beat the Spore Spawn-thingy and go to Ridley.....but that wouldn't be NBMB,eh?)

And I don't really know how you could get more than 46%. 56% would be possible if you could get speed w/o killing Kraid( I think someone here (or at SCU) said that he got stuck in a wall and somehow got Speed Booster, but it seemed to be a one-time-glitch...); some more % would be possible if you could get an early pb exp or glitch through the pb-doors in Crateria, 62 % would be possible if you could get to Ridley w/o fighting the Spore-Spawn-thingy.

Btw: I don't know if it's allowed to get Charge and a Missile Tank aswell as another missile in Kraid (you would more or less have to kill a boss to get charge and the doors do lock in one room you have to cross to get a missile exp in Kraid. The other missile exp. is near the rio room and you would have to cross it to get out). I did get these items though.

Of course, NE+1 (no event+1) in Fusion with all hatches 'sharked open would actually be worth something, but that isn't this topic.
If you could get the PB expansion in Kraid... but you can't, even without the problem of the lava, you just can't get up there without Space Jump or Shinespark... if only you could save up a charge for long enough... or do you lose it when you get hurt by lava?

you can shinespark in lava,but NOT Speed Boost. And the shinespark does not hold long enough to get the PB Tank in Norfair(not Kraid, btw).

(I don't think it would even if you COULD Speed Boost under lava.(You could charge your shinespark in the first lava-room,but not in the second one (with the pb & missile tank)

btw: You need Gravity,not Space Jump to get it;) (you could just bomb jump up with gravity)

Edit I've added a .png-screen to show where the Rios are.

I dunno if it's possible, and I don't want to try it :P

That screen you have there is impossible under NBMB conditions, thanks to the Acid Worm, but it is very possible to leave Kraid from the save room before you fight him, after killing the Acid Worm.

If you could get the Screw Attack before Kraid, you could do it... but don't you need the Speed Booster to get the Screw Attack?

You can get Screw Attack before going to Kraid,but I don't know how you could escape Kraid with it.

@ tomatobob: I know it's impossible in NBMB( because you can't activate the zip-lines). I just made the screen because,like I said earlier, the room changes if you kill Kraid(-> The Rios are in different places).

I know that no one was able to HBJ over the room after killing Kraid( and it seems impossible), but I don't know if anyone has tried to do it in a NBMB(-> without killing Kraid).
And there is a missile tank under the Rio Room,and if you can't HBJ over the room,you HAVE to get that missile as the last item in NBMB and you are stuck. If you can HBJ over the room,you could save some time in a NBMB Speed Run because of a better route,that's why I'm asking..
(that does not mean that I'd be able to do it if it's possible....)

You could kill all the Rios using it: Bomb jump across, get hit by a Rio near the end, unmorph and screw attack, landing on that block. Then flee, before what's left attacks.

Looks impossible. AFAIK the rios respawn when you leave the room, and they'll fly towards you before you even see the block. BTW, does the larva count as a miniboss? I mean...you don't really defeat it. If the Earthworm doesn't count (charge beam boss), why should something that becomes something else be considered?

I think the brinstar worm is an exception because beating it won't let you get any more items, except for charge beam which I think is usually ignored, as in not taken. If you don't kill it, you'd have to get attacked by it every time you went through those rooms, and that would just be annoying.

Yes you can, but you have to hurt it to make it go away, so it's easier to just kill it, though that does defeat the point of an NBMB.

no miniboss implies that you don't even face it. But since you HAVE to face Ridley and that one Torizo dude in SM for an NBMB, I suppose facing the ZebeWorm doesn't count either.

yeah, you have to face the Charge Beam Boss in a NBMB run.

Hmm... I'm thinking about doing a NBMB 4X% Single-segement run on Hard on VBA( without Savestates/Slowdown). I'd ask Nate if I could have a FTP-account ,convert the file to avi and host it here. But I don't know if anyone would like to see it... NBMB in MZM isn't as cool as in SM (for example). And it's way easier...

Is anyone intrested? And if so, should I get Charge Beam/ the Missile Tank in Kraid where the doos lock?

Btw: I tried to HBJ over the Rio Room on VBA with Rerecord/Slowdown-abusing. I'm currently before the Rios,but I wasn't able to cross them yet.

It took me 2000 rerecords to get there. I don't think I will ever be able to do it on gameboy if it's possible.... Rolling Eyes

Do you? Would it be possible to wall jump/SWWJ up to the top of the second shaft in Brinstar, then go through the shortcut to the first shaft, where there is a missile, then go straight to the Bombs, then go to Norfair without going back past Brinstar Worm until you have cleared Norfair? Or would it be too difficult to get past the Rippers at the top of the shaft?

You need Bombs to get into the hole. You can't walljump up and morph, because you'd always morph one block too low.

And you would have to face the Brinstar Worm on the way to the bombs,even if you could get that missile...

Btw: What is SWWJ? Secret World wall jumping?? There are no Secret Worlds in MZM...

And if you could get that missile you could open the red door, hence not triggering the first Worm battle, so the worm would not be in the Bombs passage, so you could then get the ET, get the Bombs, go back through, and go to the Worm's passage, get the missiles and go on to Norfair, while the Worm is still waiting for you to come back with missiles. You could do it with the Power Grip... but you need to be already at Norfair. Are there any other missiles you can get before the one you're meant to start with? Is it possible to get up to e.g. the one in the same room as early supers?

You'd need bombs to get any other missile tank.

And the Brinstar Worm would appear on the way to bombs. I think the Brinstar Worm appears if you have missiles, not if you have that one missile you have to get first.
