What stops one from using the X-ray climb to get the plasma, and the gravity suit? I seen a video of someone getting the Gravity suit using the climb.

I think I may have the answer to the gravity suit but I just want to double check, I however don't understand why no one grabs the Plasma Beam.

The Gravity suit can be acquired using the X-ray technique, but it doesn't allow you to skip Phantoon, thus stopping a NBMB run.  Phantoon must be defeated for the room state to be changed from unpowered to powered, which makes the Gravity Suit appear.  All the video you're referring to does is skip the walking statue part, which saves time.  Phantoon is still defeated first.

As for Plasma - I don't know.

uhhh.. the tricky thing about getting the plasma beam is getting to the room 3 rooms before the plasma beam, without killing Phantoon or Draygon.
I came up with a really convulated method of using a half-way removed passage from the room left of there, and then dodging through a bunch of garbage blocks and ending up traveling above a repeat of the room a while back, which *should* be possible for NBMB though I don't think it's been done under actual NBMB conditions. The main difference would be going around underwater without the gravity suit. There were a number of pits you had to jump over, I don't know if it was doable without gravity suit. Not up to checking right now either.

Thank you Quietus, that was my theory but like I said I just had to double check for myself.

Kejardon, I understand exactly what you're saying, don't worry about checking it I was just wondering. It seems there are still obstacles in the way which are quite difficult to get through without the Grav Suit.

Well guys thanks for the answers, and I hope to be recording for ya'll soon add another bad a** to the legends. :P

I can't remember the last time someone's said that to me. I'm also impressed you understood it, that was kinda a "This is horribly complicated and nobody else is going to understand this but I don't want to put the effort into explaining all the craziness" post.
What'd you say?

I actually seem to recall watching a video of said post...
Anyone tried GT Code and X Ray Jump for NBMB run?

Is it even possible to get to the GT without killing a boss? Let alone getting OUT of his room without killing him?

Not to mention that since GT is a miniboss, there'd be no way to leave his room once you got in, so your NBMB run would have to end there.  Since doing the code gives you a set amount of items, even if you have already acquired a higher amount, it could end up reducing your percentage.

There are NBMB runs where people have gotten the Screw Attack without killing a boss. So I don't see why you can't get to the GT since it's the adjacent room to the Screw Attack. Currently, I have tried the GT code and X Ray Jump tech by getting Samus stuck at the door and CFing after in order to perform the X Ray Jump. I am stuck in the "secret worlds" of SM and it's hard to navigate out; I was just wondering if that's a possibility. I have also tried to getting the Grappling Beam without touching Crocmire. I was able to get the beam perfectly fine without killing him, but I am currently stuck in getting out of his room.  I am able to return to the original spot where you fight Crocmire, actually in front of it, rather than being stuck to the left oft the wall. But the problem is navigating the secret world to find an alternate escape route and leaving the Crocmire room.

Yes, you can get the Screw Attack.  You just need to do the Green Gate Glitch.  This, obviously, means that you can get into GT's room, but as I said, there'd be no way to get back out without defeating him.  You can't defeat him, because he's a miniboss, so your run would have to finish in his room, but...  When you do the GT code it doesn't just add a load of items to your total - it resets them, so if you had, say, 200 Missiles, it'd reset them down to the lower amount, so you'd actually lose items, which would defeat the purpose of a NBMB run, which is to get as many items as possible.  This would mean that you'd have to get there with minimal items, and then do the code before heading back to collect everything (without killing him).  This would probably be beneficial anyway, because you'd have the Gravity Suit for easier movement.

Also, if you're looking into the whole x-ray climbing side, then you're kind of outside a normal NBMB run, and you can get almost all of the items in the game anyway.  Off the top of my head, I recall the percentage being at nearly 90%.
