What'd you say?
WoR?
World of Ruin. It's basically the second half of the game.
What'd you say?
That speed boost relic is amazing.
Which one? The sprint shoes or running shoes?
What'd you say?
Sprint. Can you stack two of them?
Well, no. But later version of the game had an auto-sprint feature which technically made them useless, but you could still equip them and run around at the speed of sound.
How far in the game are you?

Well, four games came in the mail today. I'll give my first impressions, etc. on them:

Desert Strike - I used to own this game as a child. The only memory I have of it though was playing it with my father one night when I was like 4. During our gaming binge that night, we had heard police, fire, and ambulance sirens. We swiftly got outside to see our neighbor's house ablaze. Luckily no one was harmed, and the fire didn't spread. It's amazing how these games can bring back memories. The game itself isn't the best. You're a helicopter pilot and you are trying to make your way around a map destroying enemy facilities. You have limited ammo and fuel so it's quite difficult.

Magic Sword - This is a new title for me. It is a 2-d scrolling game that is similar to beat'em ups, but is still completely new. You can obtain a fellow warrior to help you climb a castle as you defeat enemies along your path. This includes numerous bosses. You can obtain better swords, additional powerups and even use magic (at the cost of some of your health.) This is an arcade game converted to the SNES. It's quite fun, even if  quite challenging.

Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure - I also had this game as a child but I don't have many memories of it. The only thing I remembered is that it is quite difficult. My memories were correct. You're exploring a jungle, trying to rescue your father. It's a 2-d puzzle type game. The first boss keep kicking my ass, it's a jaguar or something similar.

Super Empire Strikes Back - Another new title for me. A Star Wars game which starts on the planet Hoth. You control Luke with a lightsaber. On level two you obtain a Tauntaun. This game is ridiculously difficult. I can't seem to beat the second level. Luckily the programmers added a secret area with a few extra lives. The only problem with said secret area though is the only way out is to kill yourself in a spike pit.

I'll give these games another go soon and I'm glad to have them in my collection. The first post has been updated.

I just got past the part with the river. My party has separated into three parts. I picked the path with the three characters. I took a break from it for now though.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
The Super Star Wars games are like that.  I recall playing Empire Strikes Back, and just feeling like half the time you were hit, you had no idea where it came from, nor how you were supposed to avoid it.

Desert Strike for me was not bad, but repetitive.  If you keep your eye on the map, you can refuel easily enough, and ammo become less of a problem.  I recall there was also a guy you could rescue early on, and he made your winching super fast, which really helps.

Well, I got to the last floor in Magic Sword, and I died right before the final boss... Talk about becoming demotivated... I'll kick that game's ass another time I suppose. I'm glad I bought that gem though.
What'd you say?
Well, I beat Magic Sword. I had two continues left by the time I reached the end boss. I didn't really see a pattern to avoid his attacks so I just kinda took hits while dealing out as many as possible. I defeated him and chose the evil ending. I became the new dark lord. MUAHAHAHAHA!!!!laugh new
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
I always remember Blood Omen for doing that.  Hmm, do I want to kill myself to save humanity, or live to kill them all? Twisted Evil
red chamber dream
heh, amy hennig wrote those ... she later wrote uncharted 1-3

I ordered a few more games as I found them for cheap and got free shipping:
Alien 3
Cool Spot - I used to own this as a kid. I kinda miss it.
Daffy Duck: The Marvin Missions
Shaq Fu - I just had to get this game, for two reasons. 1. So I can see how horrible it actually is for myself. and 2. Everyone needs that one absolutely atrocious game in their collection.
Super R-Type

I updated the first post.

EDIT: I noticed I had Secrets Of Mana under my collection, it's supposed to be Secrets Of Evermore. That's fixed now.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
I really like Alien 3.  It had good graphics, and the animation on Ripley was excellent for its time.  My only real gripe with it was that later levels seemed to deliberately force you in one way loops to flesh out the length of levels / missions.

I'm glad I am getting it then. I checked out reviews for all the games I've ordered adn I usually just go off the first impressions.

My buddy stopped over and convinced me that going to a pawn shop in town would be a good idea. Last time I was there, they wouldn't even take PS2 games. Well, they had a stack of N64 games, a few SNES games, and a Genesis. My buddy picked up the genesis, with cords and a controller for $20. We checked some thrift stores nearby and found nothing. We went to that game store I mentioned awhile back to get a few genesis games so we could test the system. He picked up Sonic The Hedgehog 2, and Sonic And Knuckles for $10. I, uh, "stumbled across" Zoop for the SNES. The game isn't too fun but I'm glad I didn't pay much for it. So, it's been a nostalgic day for me, and my buddy may become interested in retro games now as well. =D

My buddy stopped over and brought me to his brother's friend's house. This kid had a decent collection of NES and SNES games/systems/accessories. I was looking through his games and was going to offer him money for a couple games when he said "just take them". I grabbed a decent stack of games, felt horrible as I know their actual value, but he didn't want them. Most of the games were either quite dirty or cover art was worn/scratched/torn. Here is what I got:
NES:
Contra
Dragon Warrior
Duck Tales
Legend Of Zelda; The
Megaman 3

SNES:
Clayfighter + Instruction booklet
Ms. Pacman
Lion King; The
Lost Vikings; The
Lost Vikings 2; The - This one has a torn cover art. =(
Ren & Stimpy Show; The
Spawn
Street Fighter 2 -Turbo
Super Mario RPG - Legend Of The Seven Stars - Someone took a black pen to the cover art on this one. =(
Super Metroid
Wizardy V
A SNES controller, in working condition.
A dust cover.

So I now have 3 duplicates (Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, The Lost Vikings, and Super Metroid) for sale/trade if anyone is interested. (I wont be a dick and overcharge like you'd find on Ebay.)

I got the ink off the cover art of Super Mario RPG. I took a Q-tip with rubbing alcohol to it. Rubbing alcohol eats ink so I had to be careful not to rub away the art. It doesn't look pretty but it looks much better than it used to.

As for The Lost Vikings 2, a rental company had it at one point and they did something horrible, something on a whole new level than stickers everywhere. They CARVED their initials into the back of the cart... I don't think it's worth it to even try to fix due to the messed up cover art as well. Here is that game:

Part of the white on the cover art is actually a sticker but still, it's pretty destroyed.
