I'm pretty sure that sabata2, kesvalk and I are pretty much the only ones that liked the game more than loathed it.
I like it too. It's not the perfect Metroid game, but I still enjoy it a lot. Sure, some elements could've been better, but there wasn't anything really terrible about it in my mind. I thought Samus and the story were handled well enough based on what we'd already seen of her from the manga and Fusion specifically. But I know many around here would disagree with me there.
most ppl that didn't liked it, are the ones that don't like changes...
When the changes don't work, that's good reason not to like them. Some changes (like the combat system and being able to speed up your charge beam) are very welcome.
And the fact that the Charge Beam was actually useful this time around (*coughZeroMissioncough*). Now if only the Charge Beam and Missiles were balanced to both be useful in the same game. Fusion had that going on. Or at least, better than the other titles.
It depends on how you look at it when you say that charge was more useful. If you removed most of the other projectile-weapon options from the other games like missiles/super missiles (real ones that can be fired on the fly and not this frozen 1st person poop), beam combos, item-crash beam upgrades, etc then by default charge beam would become more 'useful' in those games, too.
