i get a lot of phone calls.

they are almost never for me.

from what i can tell, at least three people had this phone number before me, and two of them are deep in debt.

i have an answering machine for when i'm not at home.

over the past four years i have collected many dozens of messages on that machine. these represent only a tiny fraction of the number of messages i received during that time: i have edited the collection down to what i believe is a work of art, and i am presenting it to you today in the hope that it will prove as entertaining for you as putting it together was for me. again, not a single one of these messages was intended for me.

using my laptop, i recorded all of the messages currently stored on my answering machine earlier tonight because i am moving to a new location tomorrow where i will not have a landline phone. it's been fun, but this looks to be the end for one of my lesser-known hobbies.

i hereby release the following recording into the public domain.

enjoy.

I liked the Spanish-speaking lady. That was scary.

Also, you should probably get on the national do not call list.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
That is amazing.

I love how people will leave a message for someone clearly not mentioned in the outgoing message. And the "Hello? Hello?'s" are always great, sometimes I miss having a land line and answering machine.

Too many fangirls to count
As much as I appreciate the comedy in that, I still HAVE a land line and answering machine, so listening too much makes me sick...

i was on it for the entire duration of the project.

My favorite was the lady speaking near the end in a robotic voice who revealed that she wasn't a robot by stuttering on a word.

I should call some of those numbers the callers gave.

I get calls like these all the time on my cell phone, but nate's calls seem particularly funny.
Hated by all
You should give them the "Star-69 Treatment". I need to do that soon for an annoying array of crank callers. Maybe even UC Davis if they pester after my brother's graduation party.

These clearly aren't prank callers, though. No reason to *69 them.
Oh, it's that guy
I've had more wrong numbers on my cell phone then on my landline, for a while some guy kept calling looking for "Blue-fly" which apparently from ensuing messages is some kind of code name for a drug dealer  #-o
