In those pictures, the objective is just to get the big red block out of the green walls by moving the blocks around. Once the red block(Master Brick) touches both blue squares, the blue squares disappear and you can just move it out. In more compicated puzzles, there's a lot more obstacles, and the goal is to get the Master Brick to a specified set of squares(red in this case, but this can be changed in most versions, maybe all, not sure). Anyway, the name of the game is Bricks, and it can be found at (if memory serves me) www.bricks-game.de. The goal of the game is to get the Master Brick to these squares in as few moves and steps as possible. Although Radix would know a LOT more than I about in-depth strategy, I believe he holds several records, and know he's won some of the bi-monthly competitions.
Oh, right, his was most likely edited. There wouldn't be so few obstacles. Last time I played that game, I had the low score, and forgot how, I spent like a whole day getting one, two, even three moves higher. It was ridiculous.
radix already showed that to me, and i timed it, and i couldn't show that it was any faster than getting a good run through the nav room. the time for the shortcut was less than a second better than the time through the nav room below, but that was before i subtracted the "limbo" time between rooms for the lower route, which sealed fusion's ridiculous excuse for a shortcut's fate.
What if you're still boost jumping into the wall? You gain a little leeway with that. Too bad the tunnel on the other end isn't just a fake wall instead of a bomb block.
Here's a question: Would it be possible to use the "jump extend" technique to gain single wall jump height? It would be tricky, but let me play around with it. If it works, there might be more possibility for getting early items...

yeah, exactly. i timed it with the boost jump, and it's too bad, too, because that would have been one hell of a shortcut.

I've messed around with that also, and I think it is very possible. But you must have very quick fingers. I tried this in PYR in the 1st large room, on the upper right side. There is a little ledge thing that comes out of the ceiling. You can wall jump and shoot and nearly grab the ledge. I find it pretty much impossible to do it more than once, since your fingers would have to move at mach 3 to pull it off.
Maybe if someone could program button sequences in or do it in slow motion. I don't know how to do it.
Have you tried using two fingers? Alternating between A finger and B finger? Seems faster than thumbs to me, but I don't know about being able to rewalljump like that. Gotta Double tap A and press left at JUST the right time....
