I just watched Nate's new run & I noticed that time didn't seem to stop when picking up items. The proof to this is that bombs (both standards & PB's) that are planted just before picking an item up goes off even though you are inside an item. The best way to see this is just before Yakuza where Nate lays a PB before picking up a missile tank. I do know that you know that time do not stop when this happens but I wasn't sure if you had any concrete proof of it. But now you do ;)
I noticed too that when he got the Ice Missiles installation, time DID seem to freeze. Why? 'Cause before he entered the station, both doors in the room blinked. But while getting the installation and when the text appears, the doors stops blinking. As if they were turned off. But then they start blinking again. Sure it might've been that they did go offline but that seems unreasonable since the right door went completely gray and then started blinking in purplish right after.
So time might not *not* stop all the time eh? This might be old news though :)
very awesome, very intelligent discussion. i think that the game timer doesn't stop when you lower the water in aqa, etc, but other timers do stop, i.e. the shine charge timer is put on hold, etc. not sure how the charge could last that long otherwise.
Yes time does NOT stop when picking up items. There's 2 ways to prove this atm. 1) The timer in the pause menu doesn't stop. 2) Both sorts of bombs does go off if placed just before getting an item.
About the water in AQA. I'd say time stops since the Shinespark lasts forever there. Also, all the electrical sprites coming out of the broken electricity pipes freezes too. BUT it could like Nate says, that only some parts stop. Then the Qeustion would be... Why? IF time stops, we might have a very small amount of sequence breaking in that very room (since we have the shinespark active). Anyone with me? :)
And as said above, doors stops blinking when getting the Ice missiles. And then go back on.
Can't wait to see the run! I really feel for you in a way regarding the commentary. That is, I definetly know the difference between a skill based and a very less skill based game. It's really sad to see a metroid game as one of those games that is less about skill and more about random factors that don't even make the game more fun, it just dumbs down the higher end gameplay -_-
I just watched the nightmare segment, and something was really strange. When he is rising up into the room you bounce around like a basket ball. whats strange is, I do EXACTLY(is that how u spell it?) the same thing! it just freaked me out a little bit.
I'm bored. Should I find a timer and calculate the time "missed" by picking up all the items? Isn't like 2 seconds per item? That's 200 seconds which means 3:20 minutes. That's quite a lot.

I do it in my Super Metroid and ZM vids too. Gogo pinball/bball Samus. :o
