A Zero Mission Morph Ball run wouldn't be all that hard, since there is infinite bomb jumping.  That's the difficult part about a Fusion Morph Ball run; you really have to time only one bomb and a Spring Ball jump together if you want to achieve any height.  If there were infinite bomb jumping in Fusion, I'd almost be done with the run by now.

Oh yeah.  Since I truly believe in my heart that bomb jumping on top of the coccoon (Shown here) is a glitch and therefore random, I'm taking it out of the run.  With that gone, I should have the next segment done in a day or two...

Edit:  Page break.  :D

Hey, do you think Morph ball runs would be as popular on MPP?

>_>
<_<
I'm geussing MPP stands for Metroid Prime Pinball? If that's the case, you just made a small part of me die inside.

On a more on-topic note...

Finished the To Serris portion of my run.  Finally.  And with a decent job done on the segment, as well.  Took a while...  Yay me.  Happy, I am.
Forgive the simupost, but...  I just got it working.  Here are all the segments, VMV and VMO in my M2K2 space.

can divx these when i get home from my parents' (so like later on in the week). if i forget, remind me.

i really, really wish i had webhosting as awesome as my new computer.

while i don't know fusion well enough to know how difficult a morph ball run is, i can tell you that space pirates in zero mission are very difficult to deal with, and that those beam dudes are near-impossible.

i am extremely late, but i will add that anything that is possible while morphed should be done that way. you shouldn't be unmorphing for health, killing enemies or anything else unless there's no physical way to do it. this is similar to people who thought it was okay to unmorph if they fell into lava - if you're trying to do something difficult, you should hold yourself to the rules and reset.
For I have done a great service to anyone that will attempt a Fusion Morph Ball Run like I.  We all know that there are speed boost blocks that require breaking, however you can't build up a shine charge in Morph ball mode.  (DUH!)  So you're going to have demorph to build up the shine charge and plow through the blocks.  So, I went ahead and took screen shots of the points in which you'll have to start running in order to have enoughh room to get up to speed.  Note where Samus is standing is the starting point.  For anyone that will attempt a Fusion Morph Ball Run after me, I hope these pictures help in cutting down the time you spend un-morphed.  And I trust everyone is smart enough to remember the location of the speed blocks... This boost isn't even necessary, if you just keep on boosting from number four and plow all the way through.  However, doing so will result in more time spent unmorphed.

This one isn't actually necessary.  If you crouch to save your shine at the second part of the barrier, shoot up, then spin jump out, you can shine spark all the way across the room and into the security room.  However, getting the Missile Tank underneath the room previous the security room will be much more difficult to get after the X have invaded this sector.

There'll be more for the next segments in later posts.  The above are all the points needed for the "To B.O.X. I" segment.

I was going to ask if you guys would rather have me unmorph to kill the Blue Sidehoppers in Sector PYR (They're impervious to bombs) or simply wait for them to do a huge hop and roll past.  But!  Since nobody answered, I went ahead and made the choice myself.  I went with unmorphing to kill them.

Also, I have finished the "To B.O.X. I" segment.

COMMENTARY

I would like to note that I did not get the early AQA Missile Tank as it requires unmorphing to achieve.  I'll wait until I'm going through the area later.

I also did not get the Early Missile/Energy Tank or the Missile Tank in the lower-right corner of PYR, seen here.

PREDICTIONTS OF NEXT SEGMENT

I will be getting the Missile Tank seen here on my way out of PYR in the very next segment.  Why?  Because I can.  That, and the fact that I think I can decrease the overall time I spend unmorphed if I get it now rather than during the clean-up segment right before facing the SA-X at the end.

Other than that, I don't think I'll be straying from the main path that the game sets for you.

That's all folks.
Shocked  Shocked  Shocked  Shocked  Shocked

Ladies and gentlemen, it is possible to bomb jump in Fusion.  You may all know about this however, I have gained an extra block of height.  Now, I am no Sess or Ekard or Dawgs when it comes to Fusion, so this extra block of height did not have enough pixel height to be an actual jump, however it does have enough height to place a bomb and destroy a block otherwise unreachable.  Therefore, if someone better than me wants to take stab at getting enoug height to make getting to a ledge possible, have at it.  Until then, this is just useful for placing high bombs.

The Bomb block just below the Energy Tank in this video?  Unbombable from underneath without Power Bombs, eh?  Not to me!

While I was at it, I figured I'd also add a short clip of the bomb hops I'll be using A LOT in my Fusion Morph Ball Run.

The next segment is finished and uploaded.  "To Mega-X" up!

MY COMMENTARY:

If I ever hear anybody whine about getting hit by blue X in NOC in a non-Morph Ball run, I will personally hunt you down and chaingun massacre you.  After you see this next segment, you will understand why.  I avoided every blue X in NOC with the exception of one.  And the only reason it did nail me was because of the flight path that it took to come after me.  Every blue X in NOC is bound by two things:  Their position when the room is loaded and the point that they are at in their bobbing back and forth when they come after you which determines their flight path.  If I had waited a second more, I could've easily lured the thing into moving when I wanted it to which would've allowed me room for getting by unhit.

I toyed with the SA-X in this segment.  You play with fire, and what happens children?  All together now, YOU GET BURNT!  Rolling Eyes  I deserved that...

I killed a lot of things with Super Missiles while leaving PYR.  But hey, it's my run.  And the Blue Side Hoppers are impervious to Bombs and the bird-like things are  Evil or Very Mad  Evil or Very Mad  Evil or Very Mad.  So there.

The room after the recharge room in NOC, I took a lot of damage from the Menu's.  I've done that room damage-less in practice runs, but, I decided it didn't matter in the end.  Since there's an Energy Tank in the alcove off the next room.

But that's pretty much it.  Except I wish I had Sessed the Mega-X fight a bit more, but eh...  From now on, find the run segments in my Sig.[/u]

PREDICTIONS FOR NEXT SEGMENT:

I'll be busting up the next segment into two segments.  Next segment will be labeled "To Ice Missiles" but it'll be from the collection of the Varia Suit to collection of the Missile Tank in this room.  Why?  Simple.  Entering the room to the left (Where I'm going, duh) triggers the Meltdown segment.  That'll be the next segment following "To Ice Missiles."

So it's going to "To Ice Missiles" which finishes here and "Meltdown" will start here and finish with stablizing of the Main Boiler's Cooling System.

Hey look!  >.>  >.>  History!  Yummy!

I also went through the game and documented all the enemies and how many bombs it takes to kill them.  There are six levels of enemies.  One, two, three, five, fifteen, and invulnerable.  That's the number of bombs it takes to kill them.  Note that doesn't include Power Bombs, since they'll wipe most things out in just one.  Also note a lot of the invulnerables are vulnerable to Power Bombs.  I have them documented with animated GIF images to make sure you know what the creature is.
divx versions should be up now (in the same directory as deathnoble keeps the vba files). as they haven't been tested very much, don't panic if things blow up.
Beware: off duty ninja
this is really intersting to watch. will be better to watch after I get to the part after zazabi, as there is so many things that can be done without abilities. the best stuff I've seen so far would be the rather creative use of bombs to kill the sidehopper like creatures in TRO. . . . also looking forward to more creative use of the bombs in fusion.

Excessive use of bombs causing things to blow up? Rolling Eyes

SamuraiSamus:  Thank you.  If you really wanted to see psychotic use of bombs, then I should've purposely attracted a Blue X after me in Morph Ball, run from it in Morph Ball, then jump and place a bomb just right to hit the thing and freeze it like you do with beams.  I was doing that at first in that segment of the run, but having to lure each X where I wanted it and then timing a way to freeze it took forever, so I just redid that entire segment until I finally got a run down where I didn't attract any at all, except that one damn one near the shinespark blocks room...
meant that i didn't watch the divx versions, so i couldn't verify their integrity.
Okay, that's it!  I am so done at trying to make jokes here on this forum.  Wink

The videos are a little messed up, but this is my fault.  I accidently started recording before I even had it to the point where I wanted it to start recording.  In other words, there's maybe a handful of frames on some of the videos that shouldn't be there.  Just sit tight for two or three seconds, and everything will be fine.  Stupid me, hitting record before loading the save state... Embarassed

On an outside note, I'm going to re-name the movies, that way when you click on the link my signature, the vids will show up in order.  Just a lil' thing to make people's lives easier. :)

Yeah, that confused me at first.  Good thing I watched the videos just to see if you did something like that.

seeing as I have watched the divx ones I can say that they turned out good, nothing wrong with them at all. if someone else could verify this that would make sure that they work.

and bombs freeze blue x? whoa. that would be rather hellish to do. and good to know, just for random information
Well, I've seen like, random frames at the beginning of four out of six of the videos.  Kwinse has seen it, too.  From the looks of it, I say that it's a result of me hitting record before I loaded the savestate.  Seriously, I think I was that hasty.

EDIT:  Yeah, that's totally what's happening here, I can tell.  I hit record before I hit the save state load.  Sorry everyone, but you're going to have to put up with a few seconds of odd frames there at the beginning.  I'll be much more careful from now on.  My apologies.  But, Samurai, you saying you're not getting these few extra frames?

SamuraiSamus:  Nah man, not really, once you figure out their movement patterns.  One is you got to get it completely parallel to you as you roll in one direction.  Stop.  Wait for it to close half the distance, then jump.  It'll blow past you (Inertia in a video game  Laughing )and turn around while going up after you.  But you jumped so early, by the time it gets there, you'll fall.  The timing of the bomb is just the same as a low height shinespark.  Plant it at ground level before you hit the ground.  Then jump up again so the doesn't hit.  At the same time, move towards the X while it's in the air.  You should pass by it, it'll blow by you again (Inertia, again) and the time it wastes turning direction, the bomb will blow on top of it.[/b]
<stares at the lower case k in his name for a bit> Those frames aren't that annoying, you know :).

And whoda thunk they would have put physics in a video game ;).
Sorry, my grammar nazi-attitude has accidently misdone your name.  My apologies.  They're just frames that cause a WTF? attitude that makes you think there's something wrong. That's all.

You can also gain an entire block of height if you unmorph at the peak of a ball jump.  Shaved time off the time you spend unmorphed.  You'll see really cool tricks with this being pulled off in the next segment.  Wink

nah, it comes from me starting the avi before the vba movie and not cutting off those frames in vdub. actually, i batch processed the stuff in vdub, so i couldn't cut off the frames, and even if i had, i risk desyncing the audio (it comes from vba desynced, and has to be resynced in vdub). so don't worry about it.
Huh.  Yeah, you're right.  I just watched the VMV/VMO movies.  Shame on you, Nate!  Wink  Eh, it don't matter.  I've already started thinking of them as little opening cutscenes, like the few starting seconds on Sess' 1% run on the site.

Just need to get big, giant letters that say "Noble" or something to that affect. Rolling Eyes  8)

no, I didn't have issues with watching the segments, but I have different expectations of the stuff that I would grab off of m2k2 like our morph ball run as opposed to a bleach/naruto epsiode. so if there's wonky frames I just don't care or don't notice them in the first place. hence me asking if someone else could verify if they work right as some people would not like that kind of thing. but for the record my experience watching them was a trouble free one
Good to know.  Eh, it ain't nothing bothers me or kwinse, but I just saying.  It's there.  Is all.

How you like the run itself?  You watch the rest of all the videos?  Some of my favorite points in there were things like...

Jumping as a ball yet hitting the ledge as normal.

Luring the Skultera (Red fish) with the jumpball then bombing them just as they same over me.

Being able to hit anything with bombs, like Owitches hanging overhead on the ceiling.  ('Cept the things in PYR... :?)

Lagging just behind the SA-X in our first encounter.

Perfect timing that allowed me to lure the Skultera just far enough away to be able to pass by them as I got out of the water.

Barely hanging off a ledge in Morphball then using them pixels to their fllest extent to get extra distance in jumps.

Getting past the Ice X in my trip to the Mega-X.  Although, I kinda wish I had attracted one, that way I could've bombed it, and that would've looked cool.
Next segment up.  Ain't divx'd yet, but hey...  Pick your battles.

Commentary:

I was nice and took some time to show how to kill these creatures:

(Mods might linkify those pics, I dunno...  They're small, but it's up to them)

Not only that, but I also put in a part showing how to hit an Blue X with a bomb, seeing as how that was left out of the last segment.

I messed up some parts in the ARC sector, but the getting out of NOC went smoothly.  (Finally)

Predictions of next segment:

Shocked Meltdown! Shocked At first, I thought this was gonig to be difficult, if not impossible, but after many practice runs, I've learned only one thing will deviate from Morph Balling everywhere.  I'm going to grab the Missile Tank in lower-right PYR during the countdown, and while I'm there, I'm going to use the speed trick Sess does in his Meltdown segment, to make up for the time spent grabbing that Missile Tank.

That's pretty much it.  But other than all that, I usually finish the practice runs with over a minute left on the clock, which leads me to believe that shinespark might not be necessary...
l'appel du vide
IIRC, you're using VBA 1.8.0 beta 3 for this run, ya?

I'm not sure if what you've done qualifies as tool-assisted (i.e., do you use savestates?), but if you wish to create a "proper" cyborg run, you'll need to use VBA 1.7.2 re-record 17.

But anyhow...interesting stuff.  Are you using the US/Europe or Japan version?
