I'd say there would be more Metroid games for the GBA. It would be hard to fill a plot for one happening after Metroid Fusion... but they will probably slip some in between earlier series.
I don't think it would be too hard to do post-Fusion plots...
Even though SR388 was destroyed, obviously the Federation's extensive Metroid breeding program means there must still be some alive in a lab somewhere. Plus, there's always the Space Pirates. I wrote a post-fusion story for a fan game plot that involves an improved model of the "Mother Brain" and explores Samus's new genetic link to Metroids.
if it does come, let's hope we don't have to wait eight years for it. i think it would be neat to see it on the ds using the top screen for the map and/or samus's abilities (which can be turned on and off, of course). and with the more powerful hardware we could see something like the sidescrolling mini-levels in smash bros. only not exactly like that, because that would be crap.
I wouldn't think they (R&D1) would just stop making Metroid games just because Retro and NSL are making two Prime games now (Echoes and Hunters, respectively). R&D1 created Metroid. It'd be a shame to have them stop.
Nah, that just ain't Samus. I think. Honestly, we don't know a lot about her... but that still doesn't sound right. Unless she escapes from her cell and gets one of those emergency pistols that stun people like in ZM.
I can see them walking her to the shockicuticon chambour and then at the last minute the Space Pirates attack and Ridley comes smashing through the room, then she goes and gets in her suit and by the time shes ready to blast it up everyone is dead and she returns to her old mortal quest to kill her nemesis Ridley... again.
I hope they do more games after Fusion. I like Prime but the gameplay in a 2D side-scroller is completely different from a FPS. It would be a shame to see it die just because people think a game should have realistic graphics.
I definitely think they could write a good storyline for a game after Fusion.
Since Samus has metroid cells in her body now, the Space Pirates or someone may try to attack her to get at the cells. Maybe even the Federation itself will turn against Samus, since all their other Metroid research has been destroyed, and she'll become a fugitive. Also, I'd be interested in hearing more about Adam. I'm not sure how this would work within a game, since the Metroid games aren't very story-oriented, but I think the idea of a human learning to deal with being a computer program could be an interesting premise for a story. (What metroid game was Adam from, originally? I'm sort of a newbie to Metroid. Fusion is the only one I've finished so far.)

Actually, he's not in any of them. She mentions him being her former CO, but you never encounter him in any Metroid game before that. That's probably something they will tell us about EVENTUALLY
Thats right, there was no game that included Adam and he was only mentioned in Fusion as I remember. I herd a rumor that he was included in the very first one, or maybe II, but was removed for unknown reasons. This is just a rumor and I doubt it myself.
Adam does show up in the manga after the two e-manga chapters. He's kinda younger than I thought he would be. And he wears a rather funky military hat.
Though I can't read japanese, so I have no freaking clue what's going on.
