Why not give Kraid a chance in 3D. I mean, I don't all that care...as long as he is still in the 2D Metroids. I would like to see what they could do with him in 3D. And yeah, new bosses would be cool. I just like my Ridley and Kraid.
You know, about a week ago I read Light of Day's post and voted no...now I wish I could change it...oh well. BTW, I think Kraid should only be in the 2D games, I just don't think he'd work in 3D.
Kraid would be interesting in 3D. He'd need to have platforms ALL around him though and on different levels...

I think he'd be pretty damn hard in 3D!
A challenge, yes. Challenge is good.
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
Notice how in 3D, Ridley was completely changed from his usual attack patters to accomodate for the extra dimension. Likewise, Kraid would get a 3D overhaul and have a different pattern than his 2D incarnations. People keep saying that Kraid wouldn't work in 3D. Well, neither would Ridley, but here we are.
well it might work but if I want new bosses! I've seen kraid even though he might be totally different.
shrimp
and white wine
When I think of a 3-D Kraid, I think an arena like the one where you fight Fire Leo in Viewtiful Joe (Circular platform with a hole in the middle) would work nicely. Kraid could stand in the middle and swipe, throw claws, and shoot his spikes.

It'd be hard to fight him like Meta Ridley because he's a bit large for that.
I think a 3D Kraid fight could be quite awesome in his own large arena.  He might actually be *gasp* a challenge for once :P
Imagine a fight with Kraid where there's a huge bridge, and he appears on one side of it.  Eventually, he starts breaking off peices of the bridge with his swipes, allowing him to move to either side, and reducing your manueverability.  Something like that, maybe.
hmm that would be somewhat fun. But isn't he a bit to big to be manueverable. I mean he is nearly frozen in place in the 2D games

Exactly how I pictured it.  I can actually see the entire fight in my mind and it's something I think would work out nicely.  :D

Nearly, but not entirely.  He does move,  he just doesn't move FAST.

Think of him as a giant, fingernailed glacier.

In that case i would die on the first battle. You can't play metroid while rolling over the ground laughing.
*votes no*
I want new bosses each time around... Ridley is pushing it...
I can think of a few differnet arenas.

1. Similar to Parasite Queen. A round arena with a hole in the centre were Kraid is. He can take his claws and slash across the arena.
Start of battle could be on a low level then he rears to full height forcing you to jump up platforms.

2. Super Smash Brothers Melee level - a platform that Kraid hits and it turns on the spot forcing you to keep moving. He can shoot his spikes at you n all.

3. A circular based arena (again) but this time when Kraid slashs down he breaks off bits of the arena making it smaller and smaller. After getting a few hits in maybe the ground could break up into lava and platforms be all over the place. You'd really have to think on what you're doing.
Cook of the Sea
I think not having Kraid in Prime was a missed opportunity.  sure, it would have been hard to make him look un-comical enough that it wouldn't have detracted from Prime's eerie atmosphere, but a massively huge enemy that didn't move at therfore had lots of different places to target and shoot at would have been awesom in Prime's first person.  Hey, maybe they could have made Kraid hard for once.
I don't see why not. Kraid, like Ridley, is an icon of the Metroid series, as shown by SSBM. Like Toozin said, a 3d Kraid would be changed to fit, and so he wouldn't be so stale to players. Sure, boss variety is needed in the series, but instead of trashing Kraid, adapt him like Retro have with Ridley.

As in, give him attacks besides the fingernails and lint of DOOM. Maybe a big cannon, like the elite pirates.
Well, he isn't in MP because is too big. The SP's need more time to revive him like Ridley. That would make sense.
Perhaps, there will be a Meta Kraid in MP2.

Yepp. *agrees*

And because he would be Meta Kraid, he needs a BIG LASER CANON OF DOOOM. *cough*...  :o
