Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Hehe.  Google can be your friend, but I can see where you'd get stuck starting out.

Move the .asm file and your ROM into the xkas folder.  Backup your ROM!  Open the command prompt in your start menu (under Accessories), and change to the xkas directory (folder).  Then type:
Code:
xkas filename.asm filename.smc
obviously substituting 'filename' with whatever your files are called.

If it doesn't appear to do a lot, then that usually means it's worked.  Test your ROM.

okey i tried doing your instructions but every time i go in to cmd it has already there c:\User\Matt> i then put Desktop\xkas an then press enter an it says its not recongixed internal an externalcommmand lol. what am i doing wrong ??
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
You need to type "cd desktop\xkas"

CD is the Change Directory command. teach

(This just shows that you are young, as this is from ye olde days of DOS - before Windows.) aiwebs_004
yeh im am younge lol 21. i didnt know you had to type that in lol. does it matter if im useing Zsnes or vista. cos iv checked to use snes on my vista but it dont work lol.

Erm im trying it when i get home from work lol i give ur advise a try. thanks buddy once again.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Both ZSNES and snes9x work fine on Vista.  It's what I'm using, so I'm quite certain.
Ditto.  All of my emus run great on Vista.
it used to work on my Vista but for some reason it keeps flashing an changing my graphics an then blue screens an i have to reboot it lol it happend 3 times but i thought just to use zsnes. the reason i asked it because when i go in the xkas folder it doesnt have anything on Zsnes just the others gba snes etc. i hope this doesnt mean im screwed lol.
im gonna try tht code you told me.
ah okey.
I just tried the cmd an it worked but the asm file i used kept screwing with my smc it made samus animation not move or anything right at the start when samus is sparking she just use's a few sprites an then the game crash's any reason for this??

The only other thing I can think of that may be giving you grief would be filenames.  Try renaming them to something simple like Metroid.smc and Patch.asm.  I seem to recall I had a few problems with complicated filenames.

You should have patch.asm and game.smc in the xkas folder.  Open CMD, change the directory to xkas, type xkas patch.asm game.smc, and that should be all.  Beyond that, try a new ROM, and see if it works with that.  If it does, then it may be your hack / ROM.
yeh il try that now :) thanks for this help i preshate it. im gonna copy paste everything you said so i can read it again an again since my net aint working very well lol.
il let u know if it works.
an yeh if its the hack/rom il have to do a it restarting.

1 more thing does my rom have to be header or un headed for asm's to work?
okey patch applied with no errors as its telling me but the patch didnt do nothing to the game i tried using a simple one like charge beam healing by Crashtour99 an it didnt work to now im gonna try different asm the one by BlackFalcon the MP2 blocks see if that works
okey i have a problem again erm about the two above me when the patch goes through i get two files of the same game one with 37 bytss an one with 3,780 bytes. how come?
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Try just using a fresh ROM for now.  Ensure that you're applying it correctly by seeing if it works on that.  Then move on to your own ROM.  99% of all hacks are designed for an unheadered ROM.  Your ROM should also be Super Metroid (JU) [!].
okey i did that patched it an used a normal super metroid (ju) [!].smc
Now when it patched together it gave me to of the same files but the difference is that one has more bytes.
i tryed running both but the small bytes didnt load & the other 1 still didnt work either when charging for health an that that patch didnt work neither same with the mp2 blocks nothing worked.
im just not aloud i guess lol

You should be using an unheadered ROM, which should be 3,072KB in size.  You should have it and the .asm file in the xkas folder, and type what I showed you above.  If you're doing that, then there is nothing you are doing wrong, and I have no other explanation to offer you. aiwebs_014
yeh im doing everything you said trust me.
I do use unheader for this an the smc is 3,072kb.
The files are two : asm an the smc in the Xkas folder.

When i do everything as been told i just get a result of to files of the same smc, one with 3,072kb an one with 37kb, i try to load the 37kb but nothing i try to load the 3,072kb but nothing has been changed.
I even tryed a normal header an a normal super metroid to do this but nothings working.

Thank you for your advice an help.

Which .asm file are you trying to add?

still didnt work either when charging for health

If you're using my asm for Charge Beam Healing, that is for an unheadered ROM.

Oh right i like the Black Falcon idea it looks very sweet idea just need to how to use ASM now  lol. any ideas on how to use ASM ??

ASM/Assembly, is easy to learn for the right people, Personally I'm not one of them, I'd say my idea, so go here, MP2 blocks. and make the rain orange/green. :) Happy I helped. http://www.metroidconstruction.com/patches.php?x=top Patch is 2nd one, under "Patches by Black Falcon"

EDIT: Click the button "[asm]"
