Also, I'm sorry I didn't put this before hand, I know Sadi knows how to put in new Music right? Well It'd help me a lot if I could get taught this stuff to put in Ice music(ex. Sec. 5)for my underground.
Ok. I am absolutely loving you're tilesets. I see a lot of places that look like another tile might work better, such as the corners of rooms and such, but it looks really good. As far as I know, there is no way to change music in SMILE...but my knowledge is a year behind, so...
Great stuff. I love the icy tileset, but I agree with the previous people saying that area inside the walls is rather bleak. It's probably better while playing, but when you show the big pictures, it looks... empty. Aside from that minor detail, your rooms look great! The icy tileset is very interesting.
Regarding music, it has been done before, but I've heard that it's difficult and requires ASM/hex/some other coding thing. I've never used SMILE or ASM or anything though, so I can't really say much about that.
Looking forward to the beta. I really want my own music in as well, so if you DO figure it out, be sure to let me know.
But, take it into consideration, what I said. Your corner pieces are really big, and stand out against the thin floor surfaces of this tileset. Maybe make them just one little corner, closer to the crateria type tileset.
For the big room (two rooms back), I'd remove the grey ledge, and just use a raised part of the terrain. That block just really stands out as having no purpose.
I am informing you that, I have just completed the underground of Apalite, I only have to make the spore spawn boss and it's Item, then a couple more rooms.
Torizo room is a good example, since you can see it easily. Look at the corner under the spike things. The wall is thick, then the corner is thick, but the floor is really thin, so the corner bulges out. Easy fix would be to make the bottom half of that tile the top, and make the new bottom blue like the background. Does this make sense?
Believe he means completion of that area, Quietus.
I'm liking. I presume all these rooms have enemies in them that don't appear in your shots, otherwise this game is going to be a walk in the park. Of course, I'm sure there is. I just prefer environmental difficulty myself.
Nomad: Yes, there are enemies. Why woulldn't there be?
Quietus: Yes, My Giant assed Icy room is one that fucks up when you go to the map and return to the game so I figured I'll make all Icy Cavern places Black BG to fit the tiles.
Try this. Take a top corner tile for your background and edit it into the black area on the slope piece, then click it so the red box appears. Should look better.
That, won't help Umm....Quietus, here is what happens. Ingame when you play, your perfectly fine right? But, when you pause or go to the map the whole room goes black around you. That's what I wanna fix.
So, the room looks and plays fine, and is only screwed up (with the black sections on the tiles) when you exit the menu? If so, that's weird, and I'm sorry to say I have no idea where to even begin with it.
