SHOOP-DA-WHOOP!
Topic name is self-explanatory. You don't have to simplify things, I know what you're talking about.

So are these Metroid (I'm interested in M:ZM programs) hacking programs only made for PC, or do they have Mac ones? What would be the best program to use if I want to create my own levels? And are they free downloads?

Sorry if this is the wrong forum section. Embarassed

It's called BB coding.
Now please answer me, what's a good program to use?

What'd you say?
Dobule helix is the name, it's free, mac or pc compatible, stop using colors and center as it is annoying and an eye sore, that and I doubt the mods will like you very much. Good day.  extra_smug

It's alright. But how user-friendly is it?
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
There's a guide to linking doors included, which will cover one major thing to do.  The other - room editing - is basically clicking the tile you wish to place (purely visually), and then selecting 'clipdata' (Energy Tanks, Missiles, et cetera) and placing it where you want them.  <-- This includes making your walls solid.  Place the visual tiles first, and then click the solid block clipdata and basically draw round the edges of your room.

Ok, thanks! Except me to start posting YT vids of my custom levels soon.
And are you able to put a boss, like Ridely in to one of your custom rooms?

You don't need to put Ridley into one of your rooms.  He can go in HIS room, and you just change which doors lead into and out of his room, which equates to the same thing.

You don't need bbcode.  Please stop using annoying fonts / colours / marquees / whatever!  The standard font is more than sufficient.

Technically this is correct, but what if he wants Ridley in a room that is beyond the 1x2 room that he is already in? My Ridley is in a room that's 3x3 because if I tried expanding his room to this, it crashed.....He will appear at the 2nd screen down from the top left of the room because he's hardcoded to do that. Ceres Ridley on the other hand is hardcoded for the upperleft most room. It says that he cannot turn right......but I beg to differ, as I myself have forced him to with no modifications to his AI, DNA, or hex editing.

There are certain hard-coded things that even SMILE cannot change, which this is one.

Kejardon's Documents houses Ridley's AI code, so if you wanna take a gander at what to look for if you wanna
change it, look here:http://drewseph.zophar.net/Kejardon/, it will help.

He is hacking MZM not super metroid.
The thing that perplexed me is while he boasts of being a "Computer geek" he still makes a topic and asks for help.  Not that there's anything wrong with that...  It just seems suspicious.  It's like a Chef coming to a bakery forum and asking how to make muffins.

Mds. Cmpr IPs?

I don't necessarily think that being a computer geek means a person will understand every program in existence.  I expect that most of the users here are fairly experienced with computers, yet most of them post in the help topics too...
Yikes.. That's what happens when you open 5-6 threads on tabs at once and start getting topics bass-ackwards....

What I'm saying is what if I want to put a boss character in my own, customized, room.

I'm fine with coding if I have to but is Helix mostly a coding based program, or a visual "drag-and-drop" style program?

And when I've created a level, would I be able to run it in VisualBoy Advance?

DH is an visual based editor.
In order to edit the ROM you first need the an ROM of the game you want to hack. (MZM in this case) So find and download one (unless you can dump it yourself)
If you want to code things then get an hex editor, assembler, and disassembler. Then you are kinda on you're own. I think inter made an ROM or RAM map if so then you can use that to save time.

DH is visual and it is an level editor. In other words you can redesign rooms, move tiles around, scroll pointers, sprites and such.
But as soon as you want to add some thing new you're on your own. GFX is simple enough as long as you can get it into the ROM (Not sure how DH handles this as I have never used it) but if you want to add say, new enemies or new power ups then you will have to code it your self. (I recommend ASM for this but feel free to try some thing "easier")

Also note that I may be wrong on some things as I'm not experinsed with this sort of stuff.

Wow this thread started out stupid.  Good thing it's smartened up a bit.

Greenguy, welcome to m2k2.  I suggest you read the sticky threads, where some of the information you were looking for is easily found.  And for future reference -- and this goes for all y'all -- we prefer substance over style in posts (and sigs).  Overusing BBCode weakens its punch.

I'm a mod here, "smile", so that was a bad move.  And I see you've already been warned in another thread about filling your posts with junk.  Smarten up -- the m2k2 admins are not known for their patience.
