Just finished encoding them. If Njahnke would like to have them on this site, go right ahead, as long as I get the credit. :P

All recorded through the cart, in stereo directly from the Gameboy Player on the Gamecube.  Besides the cutscenes, I'm pretty sure I have every track, including 10 that aren't in the sound test. In VBR of course. I'm so impressed by these, my GBA rips of other games will be definitely redone.

Also in  the ftp in the remixes folder (in the Metroid Zero Mission dir of course) are some remixes by Jorge D. Fuentes of the Castlevania community. His remixes are always great, he's done tons of Castlevania remixes that I had on the Treasury (that will be online again in the near future).

Here's a link to the folder on my FTP:

ftp://leech:leech@24.72.120.142/

It's in the Metroid Zero Mission folder. It's also on my music rip ftp, which is:

ftp://aq:aq@24.72.120.142/

So, enjoy! :)
Thread title:
OMFG.

Manbabies.  Now.
Woohoo! Considering up until now the only access I've had to Zero Mission music was through my emulator, these rips are welcome. Thanks for sharing it with us!
why do you use vbr?
I thought that's what most people like. I could re-encode them to 192 k/s if you'd like....

...And they're online. They're in the 192 directory under the Metroid Zero Mission dir.

I think I'll do Fusion rips next. Since there's no sound test, it'll probably take longer. This way, I can burn the ZM and Fusion soundtracks on one CD and have them at work to listen to. ;)

One thing I don't understand though. Why are people hammering my server? There's 3 people banned already. :|

well, vbr was a great idea, but in my opinion, varying the bitrate of a file that can already be downloaded in fifteen minutes on 56k in order to download it in fourteen is hardly worth the massive compatibility issues that arise. i have no idea where vbr came from, but if it's an 'official' option for encoding, the software manufacturers sure have done a pathetic job of implementing it.

when a fixed bitrate mp3 is broken, normally you hear either garbled audio or it just aborts where the file cuts off. a vbr mp3 might starting playing over an hour of silence, or it might stop prematurely with data still left to play.

also, again with the software issues, i've had several vbr encoders accidentally set the base level too high and encode at 32 kbps quiet areas of classical pieces, for example. i'm a paranoid person by nature, so i think 'if this is happening in this mp3, how do i know it's not happening in all vbr mp3s'? the truth is, there's no way to tell, since every person's hearing is subjective. therefore i feel it's better to just stick with the waste. after all, an mp3 at 192 kbps fixed bit rate is still over seven times smaller than the source cd-quality file.

automated downloading programs that aren't as friendly as flesh and blood users, perhaps? :)

Ready and willing.
The "leech" username no longer works. Also, it (the other one) tends to give strange error messages after 5 files and doesn't work until you close the ftp window and reopen it.

Leech went back up again. O.o.
i just downloaded the entire 192 kbaud soundtrack from leech:leech with no problems.
Yay! More music!

*happiness*
After listening to the "Chozodia" track, I realized the music you first hear in the Mother Ship actually resembles the music in the Wrecked Ship :o
Thanks for recording the tracks, that's really cool of you to do that.  Now could you record them all again using headphone mode?  All the songs are nicely mixed in stereo using headphone mode.

thanks man  :D
Yup. I recorded it from the gamecube, but with the headphone mode on. It was trickier since headphone mode is slightly quieter than normal mode.

Actually, I found the Crateria track has more in common with the Wrecked Ship than the Chozodia track.

And I just listened to your Super Metroid tracks again. They sound good now. Great job. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Guess the work computer where I listened to them is screwed up. I wish the boss would just let me wipe the thing clean. :(
they were physically recorded by my friend jilost, but yeah, i'm one of the only ones to have his copies and not the horrid sound in action ones afaik.

btw, great job on zero mission. really enjoyable soundtrack, much more so than fusion, i'm afraid.
UPDATE: I seem to have missed 2 tracks. The Fully Powered Suit Fanfare and Brinstar (Reprise), both from the end of the game. I assumed they were the same as the previous tracks from before. They're all on the FTP, as tracks 32-33. And the Ridley Robot and Ending Credits is now tracks 34-35. You may have to refresh the directory to get the files to show up.

Sorry about that. Everyone, please download the missing tracks.

I've been trying to record Fusion, but it's impossible to get the boss tracks. Pausing the game removes some samples from the music, so that won't work. HOWEVER, it appears an official soundtrack for Fusion/Prime is out. I'll be looking for that for sure.

PS. In case anyone is wondering, the Imago tracks are the hornet boss thingy. The Nintendo official strategy guide calls the boss Imago, the zipline boss the Acid Worm, and the final boss Ridley Robot.
Or...use VBA to record the music as a wav and use a wav to Mp3 converter...

Thats what we did at M-O. We have $0.00 (thats also 0 euro) worth of sound recording equipment...heh.

Oh no, not the "Ridley Robot."  I'm not sure which is worse, Mecha-Ridley or Ridley Robot.  Mecha Ridley Robot-X!!!!

Back to your regularly scheduled topic :x

PS:  Much thanks for the rips :D
Huh? I tried to download some songs, but none of them finished downloading, and now I can't get into the FTP at all. What's up? =\
