Does anyone play Magic The Gathering?

I wanted to when it was popular in my area. But back then (in middle school) my mom didn't want me touching them because she thought they were demonistic. I played a couple times with friend's decks and it was a pretty good game.

Right now I have Pokemon trading cards that I would like to get rid of (maybe). I wanted to collect them all but they just kept making more and more and more. So I just stopped collecting them. Now I have about 300 or so. I have a friend who had nearly a 1000 and that was when there were only 151 pokemon existing.

Then I guess u know where I get my signatures come from.

Lingering Death, Scourge Enchant Creature. Right?

I know ppl who don't like MTG cause of the magic part of it. I looked quite a bit into it before playing and talked to my Pastor about it and I think it's fine.

It's obvious though that you don't let it dominate your life, but then you really shudn't let any game dominate :P

I used to play Pokemon TCG. Used the old ZZap that I broke down into a mono-electric and a mono-psychic decks.

Ahhh I remember my first multiplayer win. I used Magneton. He went boom and killed all active pokemon, winning me the game :P

I remember playing Pokemon... I had all the cards in the Base, Jungle, and FOssil sets, 1st Edition on most of them. I had a Turbo Blastoise deck before anyone else around here... :P

And I also play Magic, as Yoshi has gathered (LOL PUN!!!@!2). I don't Metroid would be translated overly well to Magic, though. I guess the weapons would be equipment, missiles could be instants, and the enemies could all be creatures, with Samus, Ridley, etc. as legends or something.

Oh, and this too.

I missed the Fifth Dawn prerelease. :( Luckily, I have plenty of cards on preorder; I don't know when I'll be getting them. I think they ship tomorrow (Fifth Dawn's official release date).

Yeah, it seems they always end each block with a crazy set, and Fifth Dawn is the craziest yet.

Anyway, don't wanna get too off topic. :P

I may look at that site again when I'm in a better mood and don't care as much about background midi...
Wow..this got a little off-topic..talking about another TCG game...
BTW,I played Magic ALOT before..No cards, though. Magic's hella fun. More than any other crappy card game out there. :P

This is my favourite Deck. I call it Overrun

Artifact
1 x Arcbound Ravager
1 x Darksteel Forge
1 x Gemini Engine
1 x Gilded Lotus
2 x Loxodon Warhammer
1 x Memnarch
1 x Mindslaver
2 x Myr Enforcer
1 x Myr Incubator
1 x Nuisance Engine
1 x Platinum Angel
1 x Spawning Pit

Black
4 x Disciple of the Vault

Blue
2 x Catalog
1 x Concentrate
3 x Fabricate
1 x Machinate
1 x Parallel Thoughts
2 x Rush of Knowledge
1 x Second Sight
1 x Steal Artifact
4 x Vedalken Engineer

Land
4 x Great Furnace
2 x Island
3 x Mirrodin's Core
2 x Mountain
4 x Seat of the Synod
4 x Vault of Whispers

Red
2 x Atog
2 x Grab the Reins
1 x Mass Hysteria
2 x Trash for Treasure

Total Cards: 60

With this I can have 9 mana available on Turn 4.
That's a turn 4 Darksteel forge. a turn 5/6 DarkSteel Colossus.
This deck is very fast. Not as fast as RavAffinity tho... (Thank God that Skullclamp is now banned!)
I started playing MtG back when 'Unlimited' first came out. It was fun for a while, but has really gone down hill. Now my friends and I just put in nice long games of RoboRally (it's not a TCG).

Shullclap is gone but look what I can do!
All lands in this deck are artifacts.

Turn 1
Something that costs 0 X 2
Artifact land

Turn  2
Artifact land
Pentad Prism(2 counters)

That gives me 4 mana which I use to get Krark-Clan Ironworks.I remove the 2 counters to get 2 mana and then sacrifice the 2 artifact lands, Something that costs 0 X 2  and the Pentad Prism to get 12 mana.
I use this for Myr Incubator. This allows me to sacrifice ALL my artifact lands and gives me loads of 1/1 myr.
I then throw a couple of myr to the iron works to get 8 mana
This is spent on Goglin Charbelcher. I have no lands so it does around 30 damage and I win!
I have a kick-butt deck as well. Here is is.

--------------------------------------------------------
Deck Name: Darksteel Reactor

Artifacts:
4 x Darksteel reactor
2 x Power Conduit
4 x Sun Droplet
4 x Darksteel Ingot
2 x Skeleton Shard
4 x Myr Retriever
4 x Coretapper
4 x Pyrite spellbomb
4 x Aether Spellbomb

Blue:
2x Machinate
3x Vedalken engineer
1 x Index

Red:
4 x Dismantle
1 x Echoing ruin

Lands:
13 x Mountain
4 x Swamps
13 x Islands

------------------------------------------
This deck's focus is the darksteel reactor and getting 20 charge counters on it, so I automatically win the game. Cards like Coretapper, which can add one of two counters help. Sun droplets keep me alive and can also be leeched of counters with power counduit. The big win is when I have 5 or more counters and two dismantles OR 10 or more counters and one dismantle. Dismantle destroys and artifact and if I had any counters on it, put that many +1/+1 counters or charge counters on an artifact you control. so I use it on Draksteel reactor. You may be thinking, "Why is he destrying the card he needs???" But the fact is Darksteel Reactor is Indestrucitble, so I can use dismatle on it and it just doubles the amount of charge counters. Pretty cool eh?

Ready and willing.
Unfortunately, my card pool is pathetic, so my decks are pretty much "here's a pre-con changed around in an attempt to make it decent". I don't even have enough Swamps for a HALF-Black deck.

Well my cards go back to onslaught block and the box of chinese invasion boosters. Invasion had the best art ever.
You spoke to your Pastor about playing MtG.....

My mind reels..  Guess the private club has some rules I just don't get.

Anyways.  Don't like Black decks.  Not really sure why.  I'm not a fan of these crazy powerful cards with set strategies for owning everything in like three turns.  I much prefer a drawn out battle with simpler cards.
PreConf's aren't very interesting in themselves, but you'll get a nice tactical game with them, usually.

and for the love of dog, what the hell is that Black Creature that "if it's the only Creature in your graveyard, return to life at the start of your turn"?
Does anyone play Doomtrooper?
Well anyway, as I've mentioned before, the best way to launch a ccg is through the Gatling Engine.  Should Sess ever complete his project, he should check out: http://www.ccgworkshop.com/gEngine.overview.jsp
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
I have a normal deck of cards.
i have a deck of capture cards.

...

but they're not all on the same continent at the moment.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. Since the Darksteel Reactor is indestructible, it's an illegal target for dismantle.

Actually, no, he's right. (Actually, I'm the rules whore (figuring out rules, not being anal about them). Of course, reference material helps out a lot. Mmm... the power...)
DarkSteel reactor IS a legal target for Dismantle. It's Indestuctibility just negates the Destroy effect. But the gaining the +1/+1 counters still works.

There's a fifth dawn card, can't remember its name Energy Chamber or something. Pretty much at the beginning of your upkeep you can put a +1/+1 counter on an artifact creature or a charge counter on a non-creature artifact (Like DS Reactor)

Facing 30-ish-year-olds with three-inch binders filled with rares and the power nine in their decks at the local card shop sucks.

I actualy put up a fight with a nightmate/madness deck I have, but then the guy had an infinite mana combo, and since he used spell/spell retrieval to get it, he then used a brain freeze (storm) and dumped my whole library into my graveyard. :(

So I lost to the guy and his deck with all of its basic lands of the foil variety. As did everyone else who played him. :P

Ah, what an experience. Even though I lost, I got to Faceless Butcher his better creatures and be all :P to him.
400400
I think I saw this in Saturday School(On the Magic Website) once. It is a legal target but the DS Reactor costs 4 and then you have to wait at lest 5 turns so thats turn 9 and my deck has an arverage win on turn 5. Heres the list

Land (20)
Tree of tales X 4
Vault of Whispers X 4
Ancient Den X 4
Great Furnace X 4
Seat of the Synod X 4

Arifacts(32)
Ornithopter X 4
Welding Jar X 4
Chromatic Sphere X 4
AEther Spellbomb X 4
Pentad Prism X 4
Krak-Clan Ironworks X 4
Goblin Charbelcher X 4
Myr Incubator X 4

Other Spells(8)
Thoughcast X 4
Fireball X 4
That's why i Have this creature x 4 in my deck:

Coretapper: Artifact creature-Myr 2 of any mana

tap coretapper: add one charge counter to target artifact you control.

Sacrifice coretapper: Put two charge counters on target artifact.

and I also have this card:

Skeleton shard: artifact 3 of any mana

3 of any mana, tap OR 1 black mana, tap: Return target artifact creature card from your graveyard to your hand.

and this card if I don't have a reactor yet and I have a coretapper:

Power counduit: artifact 2 of any mana

Tap power counduit: remove counter from target artifact you control. Put a +1/+1 counter of charge counter on target artifact you control.

I move a counter from eariler to my reactor, I sacrifice coretapper twice with skeleton shards power, than i use two dismantles. BAM. I win the game.

Easy to get round. Ask to play Type 2.

Type 2 consists of the most recent sets - Onslaught, Legion, Scourge, Mirrodin, Darksteel. and of June 20th Fifth Dawn.

since thats mostly what new players have if u ask to play with Type 2 rules you have a much greater chance of winning.
400400
But you really have only one real way to win. What happens if your Ds reactors are in the middle of your deck?

With my deck I can win with the Ironworks and Fireball
or
with charbelcher and myr incubator(I have no lands in my deck)
or
Myr Incubator(ironworks would speed this up)

I am also trying to get Bringer of the Black Dawn's to help me get the cards I need. You can get a 3rd turn Bringer with the prism.
Oh and I only play Type 2 and Block
I always make sure my DS reactors are not all together. And I have another way to win: Use dismantle on a sun droplet with a lot or counters, then put that many +1/+1 counters on one of my artifact creatures.
