I assume you've used a real GBA before. See the intro screen that appears when you load any game? (The one with the GBA logo in rainbow colors?) That screen is provided by a special file in the main ROM area of the GBA console that validates the games used. It's called the BIOS file (or, in computer terms, "booting file"). Since most games nowadays are tested by the BIOS, and tend to screw up sometimes without it, people ripped an actual BIOS from a console, and saved it as a VBA compatible file, so the VBA could work exactly as a real GBA. Hope that helps. :)

well, I did find a bios file, but the movies I want to watch don't work on vba 1.7.1, and my 1.6a version won't work >_>

If anyone wants to know, I'm at the save right after Nightmare with 47 minutes on the clock. I sent a failed attempt of this segment because it has a strange glitch at the end. I spark towards the speed blocks that block the power bomb expansion, but I don't go through. :(

Anyway, Nate, what parts of my vids did you like? Just wondering.

Well FYI, I absolutely love the NOC tricks you did & the speed trick to Omega. You can bet I'll be using them in my runs :D Dunno how you shot that red door in NOC when you were flying around though... Probably by magic.

I figured out that trick during my first 1% Nightmare battle.  You can press R (if you have a missile) when you are charging your beam to unleash it.  Then you can let go of R to start charging again. You have to keep holding B though.

This trick is cool because it won't break your spin.  This is how I beat Nightmare easily (I don't land on him)

Be warned though. Pulling both of those tricks in a row and during a good run is extremely difficult. I have practiced it several times and haven't pulled it off yet.

please try to hang in there, everyone. i'm going to post these videos as soon as i possibly can, undoubtedly by the end of sunday, and hopefully before. the problem is that i have my usual barrage of work for classes plus a huge number of runs this week due to spring break stopping all the mail last week. i definitely haven't forgotten, though.

Quick question Nate. When my 100% run is complete, are you going to make it a zip file like with DaveB?

I really hate this segment I'm on. It's the one where I must use my 2 very hard speed tricks for NOC so tell me this... Should I try to get those 2 tricks pulled off in a row during my run or should I slack off and do it the old way?

it was actually daveb who zipped that file, and everything else in his directory to my knowledge. things appearing in personal directories (such as yours) come from that specific user.

Well, I pulled off the 2 tricks (And it took me a long while. What a pain) and ended up finishing the run.

1:14 with....99%  Shocked

Must find out.

EDIT: Well I found it. It was right there in ARC with that ceiling monster in that small room on the bottom. It's to the left of the large glass room that contained Nightmare.
