Okay, I was browsing through the GameFAQs forum, and I stumbled across this.

http://coffeewithgames.blogspot.com/2010/01/metroid-prime-trilogy-no-longer-being.html

Is this really true? Thank heavens I purchased the Collectors Addition.
Thread title:

the collectors' edition is the only edition - it was a limited time thing. i still need to purchase a copy myself.
I actually read that they are not making any more copies, collector's edition or otherwise.  Sales were disappointing and the trilogy will be discontinued.
Wait, what? Why?

like i said, i remember reading that they never intended to. the trilogy was always supposed to be a limited time thing, and the "collectors' edition" was always intended to be the only edition. calling it such was a marketing ploy to get people to buy it while it's available.
If that's the case, then I better buy one of these before it gets even harder to find.
ANKOKU
indeed you should
Somebody feeling like selling the case to me?

Would be cheaper for me than to buy the whole game just for the case. :p
yeah the case is beast.

however, here is my dilemma:
to unlock the best unlockables in MPT, you need Friend Credits.  However, to get friend credits, you have to have friends that play MPT.  I have none.  There is one friend that I know would probably enjoy it, so I was thinking about recommending it to him, until I found out they stopped selling 'em.  Obviously, with the idea of a friend credit, Nintendo/Retro Studios was trying to get people to get their friends to buy the game.  I would be doing such, but I am unable to.  So I guess I'll jut have to deal without the Screenshot Tool, all the Dioramas, the Mii Bobblehead, Bumper Stickers, and several MP3 galleries.
Just go online to find people who are looking to trade friend vouchers.  Nearly every gaming forum (including this one) has a topic devoted to it.
my umbrella goes directly to Bankai
i guess no one took seriously the whole "Limited Edition" deal about the trilogy. people assumed it would be around forever and now when the offer ends, people complain.
lesson to be learned: if you are ever interested in a limited edition item, get it as soon as possible.

there's still copies around so people have a litte hope still. i saw 2 copies in a local store and was temped to buy a copy to then sell it sealed for a lot more many years later but selling stuff on ebay is such a pain from here that it isn't worth it.

I'm surprised that there any of us that didn't buy it on the release date.  The release of any official metroid game is something that I lose sleep over and even take time off work for, even if it's just for a port like this one.

The first time I went to the store to get it, they told me that the release date was actually the SHIP date, and that I had to come back the next day at a certain time.  I came to the store the next day about 30 mins. early and there were already a few nerds hangin' out for the game.  I'll even camp out in front of the store for something major like the launch of the Wii.  I just HAD to play TP, even if it meant 8 hours in the cold. (actually I had a friend do it for me, but i would have done it myself if I had to)

Please tell me I'm not the only one in here who's that nerdy about these games !

Only time I've waited outside a store for a launch was with the Wii, and I ended up getting there just a little late and was only 3 or 4 people BEYOND what they had in stock. (At least I got to see a DeLorean drive up while I was waiting, so it wasn't a total loss. The driver was even offering the people in line rides if they'd let him take their place afterward, but nobody did that.) Most of the time if I want a game itself that badly I'll either pre-order it and have it ship within the first day or two of release, or just go out and find it when it comes out in stores.

For big game releases, like with Mass Effect 2 next week, it'll be hard enough even waiting for it to arrive in the mail, but that's about as far as I go for games themselves.

As far as MPT goes, I'm glad I got it when it first came out, since I didn't think at the time that they'd be taking it off the shelves less than six months after putting it out there. I just wanted to play Prime and Echoes with the Wii controls, and as you said Opium, it was a Metroid launch, so that meant I had to get it. I tend to be like that with any series that I like, but with Metroid especially I can't resist getting a new game as soon as it comes out.

i already have all of the games and don't even like two of them. i'd like the trilogy set eventually to mess around with the new prime controls, but it's not that important to me. i'll get a copy when they're twenty bucks used on amazon. i doubt they're ever going to be hard to find.
i wasn't impressed with what i played of prime at the lock-in. everything that makes prime prime to me was gone.
red chamber dream
yeah heh. part of the reason i haven't bothered getting it yet.
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
I didn't think I'd be too keen on the controls either but they turned out really swell. Echoes is infinately more playable.

Of course I still have Prime 0-00 ntsc sitting next to Trilogy on the shelf and wouldn't have it any other way.

This, this, this, this, THIS!
Is the bonus content any good? That would be the only reason I'd buy this instead of buying MP3 on it's own.
ANKOKU
The only "bonus" content is the artbook and the ability to play Prime 1 and 2 with Wii controls.

Nothing new has been added.

Don't forget the sweet-ass metal case. I LOVE these metal cases. I bought the collector's edition of the piss-poor Perfect Dark Zero just for the case.

Granted it was $7 used...
ANKOKU
Yeah, the metal case is ballin'.

I find myself putting it in the plastic sleeve backwards though. I just like the back art better than the front "arm cannon" design.
I think it would have been neat if they put some seemingly meaningless lines on the back of the metal case so when you put it in the plastic sleeve backwards they lined up with the words "Collector's Edition" to say something else.
What the hell would the point in that be?!Eh?
To be realistic, I guess.  You also see them fighting a couple of space pirates in the escape sequence of the intro.
