I'm going to start a TAS of the frigate using a DTM to make optimizing much easier. I plan on going into a SW to skip the Ridley and losing upgrades cutscenes, this will most likely make the over all escape time slower but the frame count lower.
so I was wondering are we going by in-game time or real time??? and if real time, does anyone have any ideas on how to bypass other "unskipable" cutscenes.
So becasue this is the Metroid Prime TAS thread it would make sense that the button input for tricks get posted here, I'll try to find the optimal way down to the frame to do dashes, bomb jumps, Ather Jumps and stuff like how main frames to wait for the highest space jump, all that fun stuff. so I wont start the TAS just yet.
quick question: in the escape part of the frigate, how do you do the tube like part when your rolling in the ball quickly? mrspeedrun lost time in that section and I don't want to make the same mistake once I get there
Yeah reka, that's kinda what I planned on doing. atm I'm just trying to find the general "fastest" way to move and then I'm just gonna start a TAS and see what I can do. but heres a problem, optimized shooting AND being where you need to be. non-TAS this isn't a problem, but almost any room where you need to shot something, finding the fastest way to aim at it and not lose time is honorably annoying
For example, second set of targets I can shot them perfect like without any lost time because the time it takes to lock onto a target is faster then the time it takes before you can shot again, the problem here is that I can never seem to be in the right spot for a dash up to the next part of the room and I waste so much time getting in the right spot. this is one of the many things that makes me hesitate about actually doing this TAS, also with dolphins crappyness I'm not sure how I'll be able to finish. because desync is still a problem in the newer rev's. Desync happens after about 1-2 minutes of recording, when it does I have to save the movie file and replay it, and dolphin doesn't like to play at full speed when replaying a DTMs/movie files so after a fair bit of the TAS has been done a lot of time will be wasted playing back the recording <_<
Also I posted this here because I'm wondering, it IS faster the warp using the cutscene right? mrspeedrun didn't and I'm just wonder if there was a reason for that
