I'm talking about the routes. It's very possible for two routes to be similar in time with TAS with the same level of optimization.

EDIT: You'd also need to grab Plasma Beam on your first trip through magmoor by doing the wallcrawl from burning trail and grab artifact of world on your first trip through hall of the elders to make this viable really.

I imagine this is faster, haven't timed getting up here yet or the normal method though.

Edit: Seems to save around 8-10 seconds
Always though it would be possible. Awesome. Does that mean you're at Plasma in the TAS now?

Just about, I'm in the room before in the actual movie. I'm just looking for starts at the moment.

...and now to take another giant break because I don't want to have to do this in general let alone optimize it
people have done this without savestates :V
Jokes aside, this trick really sucks yeah, but at least it's not as bad as early World ...

MP2 also a bit MP1 speedrunning
taking a look into the collision map might help

Well that took a while. I was seriously planning on taking a break, but then I got bored last night and decided to brute force this. As I suspected, the bomb jump up is possible only using a boost and 2 bombs layed close together instead of 3 layed HBJ-style, so that's some time save there.
rocks, locks, and invisible blocks
This is a thing.

Saves around 20 seconds over flyby skip, but I doubt any% could activate floaty on Tallon in less than 20 seconds(?)

Should be doable without floaty jump by using an infinite boost, if getting stuck is the floor is possible that is...

Holy shit, does that mean you're actually at ridley right now? Or just something you wanted to test. That looks crazy though haha
it's just something he wanted to test, the TAS is in phendrana labs afaik. The idea is really cool though.
I run this here hotel of an evening
Floaty Ridley: What's the deal with the fog? or whatever that is? Cool though
I want this: i'm not sure i understand. is that the same "technique" as in the first vid?
200 speed: now i'm even more confused.

Regardless of my lack of understanding, pretty cool.

Also is there a vid for the current TAS Flaahgra fight?
Last question, totally unreleatd to TAS, but how is Flaahgra pronounced?

I'm currently in the elevator on the way up to Control Tower. 21:32.633 IGT / 32:11.033 RTA

Floaty jump activated on Tallon does that.

This was the original concept video, just showing you can maybe boost Ridley sooner than the flyby skip method.

Speed edited to 200 on the boost to mimic using an infinite boost to build speed, showing that not much speed is required to get up there.

It's been optimized a bit since but here's the best I've got:
I run this here hotel of an evening
heh, Flaahgra's jammin

Also, holy crap. can't wait to see more TAS flavored awesomeness :D
It's pretty much onomatopoeic. Flaah Graah.

Anyways, sick video. I can't really think of a scenario where you could get floaty that fast (at least, on the final trip to Tallon where you're only there for like 7 rooms before Ridley)
rocks, locks, and invisible blocks
I figured 100% could potentially make use of this in a worst case scenario, but ideally I'd like to just solve it with infinite boosts instead of floaty.

I'm back from my little break. Looks like skipping knocking the tower over is slower, so that's lame, but hey look how fast it is to knock it over!

Currently entering Frozen Pike on the way to Magmoor and then Mines with an RTA of 33:22 / IGT 22:26
rocks, locks, and invisible blocks
Just got Main Power Bombs at 36:00.0 RTA / 24:02.583 IGT

MQB sucks.
I see you got Powerbombs out of bounds because the blow up arm is still there. Do you have to fight the Drone after?

No, it would be a lot slower if you did. Iirc you can still trigger the drone if you head up towards the the door leading back to Omega Research, which might end up being a soft lock? I think I did that once and was able to solve the maze and manually use a bomb to get out, but I was locked in morph ball and the camera was locked in birds eye view. Um... later today I'll confirm that I guess, since I'm just going off memory.

Edit: Okay never mind. I know I've caused that to happen before, but it must have been a product if IS or something. If you kill the drone the maze cutscene plays but the maze is empty, after the cutscene the center object comes back and spins around endlessly, like it does before exploding in the PB collection cutscene except, you know, it doesn't stop to explode (Power Bombing it doesn't blow it up). If you enter the maze morphed you'll soft lock, the little door thing doesn't close if you're unmorphed. While in the maze though, you have a normal camera and unmorphing isn't locked, the maze is actually tall enough to stand in.

25:57.717 IGT Omega Pirate starting cutscene.

I've got a crazy audio bug that happens when the first starts that sounds horrid, if anyone has any ideas on how to fix it please share. I might have to just take audio from console and throw it in there because this hurts my ears to hear

It happens in this video at the start too, but I think I edited it to be quieter because it's considerably worse for me right now.

Edit: 26:39.617 IGT at death cutscene / 39:35.12 RTA end of cutscene
holy crap
Lmao wut that pan is so bad. Holy. I don't know what's going on there though, haven't heard audio glitches like that in a long time. You're on an older version of 4.0 right? And yeah, if you skip the Drone/PB's and come back that way, the game soft locks until you actually go up on the ledge and start the fight.

Also, wow this is going to be sub hour RTA.
