I knew there must have been a 22% HARD mode PAL run as well as NTSC. It's not on SDA, but seeing as 3 hours is... well, improvable, it's not surprising that you haven't submitted it to SDA; but could it be that it's the WR of that category? No offense to you as I take it as you weren't really going for speed, right?
I just finished my 22% HARD mode NTSC run (not really going for speed just nice segments worth watching IMO) with 2:46. I saved at the Ship before Meta Ridley with 1:53, though. But it took me 22 minutes to fight Meta Ridley (didn't come up with the idea to szun him with the few missiles I have) and therefore 31 minutes to fight Metroid Prime. Oh yes and Omega Pirate was a 7 pool fight and I went back to save after the Wave Pirate battle and if it were titled as "speedrun" it would be sloppy on so many places. But there are also a few very nice things for example I got the Geo Core Bomb Slot stall on my FOURTH jump in my segment although I only reset after like 15 jumps and I only needed 3 hours for that segment to happen. :-) This is definetly the biggest positive surprise of my 2nd 22% run (first 22% HARD mode) and the biggest negative surprise was how hard the Wave Pirate Battle was; it took me almost 5 hours and I finally decided to take the "hide and seek"-tactic (deactivating the force field in front of the Plasma Beam door leading to the Flamethrower.
Thanks to Stefan for the help on the Wave Pirates and Trebor (mentioning this although he's gone from m2k2 AFAIK) for having written that enourmously helpful guide for 23% and 22% and those who uploaded runs/ videos on YT which were helpful . Making 22% on HARD mode turned out to make for a larger difference to 22% NORMAL mode than I would have guessed. But well, despite the Wave Trooper segment, it still took me less than 15 hours in total to pull off 22% the 2nd time, so I'm happy. :-)
Overusing the term "osnap"?! ;-) Well, thanks. But could you put it like this:
21% 2:58 T3 3:50 Miles 28:31 Paraxade 54:49 Daryoschi
22% 1:13 Craztad (I'm fairly sure that there's no 22% 1:13 by anybody; Trebor still has the WR with 1:18, so take out the 1:13 apparently done by craztad) 1:18 Trebor 1:28 Smilingjack13 (hard mode) 1:29 Sparky 1:32 Master-88 1:34 Zoid 1:41 Smiligjack13 (SS) 2:46 Daryoshi (hard mode)
23% 1:15 Sparky 1:28 Daryoshi
Also, I'd like to know what the best time in 21% by Metroid 177 is. His first playthrough was 44:37 IIRC so you could just take that time until it's commuicated which time is his best.
Okay, I'm very confused now. I read through the topic and didn't understand everything. So: In the "Prime Speed Team", they discussed about a faster any%-route, about Plasma before Wave/ Ice being FASTER (?!?) than an in-bounds or IBBF-involvig route and if IBBF is faster in any% and if it's possible to climb the 2 Spider Shafts in Phazon Mines (they didn't do enough research on this, apparently :P). Nothing about 22%/ low% IIRC.
And then suddenly, craztad shows up and mentions this:
Quote:
Sparky you said you were maybe doing a 3 to 4 segment run to see how it would work out. It probably doesn't mean anything but last year i did a 5 segment 22% run that came out to 1:17. I didn't think anything of it cause the current 22% is out of date anyways. But maybe small number of segments is the way to go. I will go ahead and do a test run with you guys just i will make mine 6-7 segments. Im pretty sure i can get around a 1:03 with patience. In the end i still think frigate will get split up and early sj will be its own segment. From that point though who knows.
1:17 22% with just 5 segments?! That's like saying: "By the way, I beat the WR and I didn't even work really hard on it, but the former WR is outdated anyway." How can one possibly mention having gotten a WR just in a paragraph like this. Of course saving takes time but not so much - overall - that it's not worth to save, because you can better improve on each segment individually. Why just 5 segments in a 22% speedrun?! WHY?! It seems that 22% would be far easier and/or faster with another route. And I've gotten the impression that he didn't use the "normal" 22% route from Trebor's WR-run (1:18) when craztad says that the 1:18 is "out of date anyways". Why is that? Is it outdated?
Is there a "new" route (from 2008 LOL) for 22%? They didn't know about it's possible to climb the 2 Spider Shafts to save time on getting the Artifact of WARRIOR, and even then, without Boost Ball it isn't possible to get through that not-yet-blown-up wall just on top of Elite Research. At least I couldn't clip though the wall when I tried for several minutes a few days ago (to skip the 22% HARD mode Wavepirate battle :P). Can anyone confirm that it's not possible to get through that invisible wall without Boost Ball?

But now he's referring to ANY% again, right?

might want to get a confirmation from him first before you start removing times.
After all, it really might be better to wait until we hear something from him about this, especially now that I've read the topic. But Master-88 took this time into the leaderboard, so he probably knows why it's on the leaderboard/ if it's really been done.

I "tried my best", but didn't restart any segment (only when it got too long). Save before Ridley was 2:00. I guess its a nice target time for people to beat.
Can Kirbymaster please update my 23% SS 1:42 (although I plan on improving on that one with the regular route, fighting the Wave Pirates in the near future) and Stefan's 22% HARD 2:11, just so everything is correct. Thanks.
Also, why is almost nobody around here since new year?!
oh really, PAL 2:11 Hard mode 22% Rolling Eyes. Thanks for sharing the link, I always wanted to see the run again
LOL just forget everything almost 10 years ago... ;-)
So, I have a new PB; I cut 32:18 off (no; NOT minutes:seconds, it's hours:minutes). xP
Except for the Great Tree Chamber SW-including segment, which basically took me as long as the rest of the playthrough combined to pull off,(exaggerating, but still...), the 2nd playthrough was MUCH easier than the first. Like getting the MQA to MQB segment in less than an hour instead of 6 days. :-)
I just still don't get how the GTC SW is done with Miles' method. In the end, I used craztad's method (which seemed to make it even tighther, though), but it just felt more comfortable. This is still the worst 21% part for me...
Either way, if you were to subtract the time for the 3 wallcrawling-including segments from 22:31, you'd get a time of just 4:16 for every in-bounds segment combined. IMO, that is quite fast for 21%. Ice Ruins West SW to SPIRIT segment was exactly 2 hours, Great Tree Chamber SW to X-RV/ CHOZO segment was 3:11 and (I couldn't Aether Jump back then, since I started the 2nd playthrough before I finished the 1st) 13:04 for Plasma Beam segment (and no: I didn't use the Floaty Jump method described in the RANDOM RESEARCH TOPIC).
Thanks for updating. It's normal mode. But I think about starting a HARD mode right now. Or in a few days... Or some more time later...
