I'm not sure if I would even bother getting it if it didn't have online. Multiplayer focused games in 2015 absolutely need it. I'm glad Nintendo seems to be starting to realize that.. Triforce Heroes has online as well.

I hope there's a mission where you fight splinters or dark splinters. REVENGE

That M2k2 guy
Has Blast Ball been this all along? Kinda interesting that they didn't mention that during the championship, though seeing the playstyle I immediately thought "Is this the Prime engine?" Guesd that confirms it.
Phoenix
Yeah, people thought it looked like the Hunters engine, but we never guessed Blast Ball WAS a Metroid game. Sort of. >_>

They still shouldn't guess that, frankly. :^P
One shall stand, one shall ball.

And die instantly for lore accuracy and so you can get back to Ball Blasting like proper cool gamer!

once GameFAQs, now Twitch
Pop in on M2K2 after BB:OB knows how long, am not disappointed in the MP:FF posts.

Haven't kept up with Ninty's E3 too tightly, so seeing NintendoLife post about "Metroid-like Blast Ball", only for this to result... But, hey, maybe in a s h o c k i n g t w i s t, it was a spider ball all along~!
http://www.engadget.com/2015/06/17/metroid-prime-is-different-made-for-the-new/

Kensuke Tanabe says Federation Force was made for the New 3DS because he thought the controls of the New 3DS would work well for a FPS and he thought that having a new Prime to launch alongside the hardware would be nice. If that means the game is New 3DS exclusive, then I don't think I'll be buying it. This game is not worth buying a new system for :| honestly it kind of pisses me off that they're releasing 3DS games that I can't play without buying a whole new system even though I already bought a 3DS

RIP prime for at least another 3 years

Waiting 8 years for a new Metroid title? Like that's ever happened before!
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
A Metroid title skipping a major Nintendo console? Unheard of!

And depending on who you ask, the 2010 game didn't really count... >_>
Yeah, so it sounds like he's confirmed they don't have a real Prime game in development. We probably won't see a new one until 2018/2019 at the earliest. Ugggh.
Dood Trigger™
No new Metroid games (read Metroid 5) at all, either, right? Yuck

Hmm... interesting. We get a spin-off that does not even stay true to why people became attracted to the series which isolation and exploration. As seen in KM's post, broken promises rises when we thought Nintendo promised us 2d/3d being released but this however leads us back to the dark age for the next few years waiting for that light to return in the next gen.

This looks like its going to be a whole lot of fun.
I remember reading an interview of the guy who made Other M and he was asked why he thought it did so poorly.  His long crappy answer, and the reality of Other M, made it clear that Nintendo has absolutely NO idea what people like about metroid at all.  Maybe the only hope we will ever have for getting another good metroid game is if they let another american studio take over the development.  Why won't they?  They don't value it very much and they aren't doing anything with it.  They might as well.
Yeah Tanabe's comments are frustrating. Federation involvement in a Metroid game always means more story focus and more NPCs. They really don't need to be in Prime 4.
His main reason was he said that western gamers aren't ready for a female lead character.  Really?
I think you're talking about this article: http://www.p4rgaming.com/metroid-other-m-postmortem-poor-reception-and-sales-due-to-having-female-lead-character/

This is a parody site.

Federation Force will definitely be playable on old 3DS.

opium, this game is being made by Next Level Games, a Canadian studio.

That's the quote, yes, but I read it at Nintendo Life.  Haha there's a crapload of discussion before someone points out that it's fake.  Thanks for pointing that out.  I love Other M now.

Which game?  Federation Force?  Are we really considering it to be a metroid game?
