Prime was my first Metroid game, so I didn't know about Ridley's reputation. My reaction to seeing him for the first time was "COOOOOOL! When can I blow it up?"

I wasn't surprised as in "What's he doing here" but more of a

"Oh No tell me I Dont have to fight that thing!!! Missile Launchers? Jet packs!?!? AAAHHHHH!!!!!"
