Do you think Retro Studios could have improved on Metroid Prime?

What do you think that Retro Studios should have put in/took away in Metroid Prime?

Here's my opinion-

When Samus finds a suit, the parts should be there, not a simple transformation.  There should e a cut-scene of her putting on the objects.  And when she loses the Varia Suit, the parts should explode off, not just warp off.

Better suit graphics in the elavator cut-scenes.

Okay, I don't know if other people noticed this but in the Artifact Temple, the warp transpot to Impact Crater hasd a sort of glitch.  When you look at the blue spring, it will appear the same from all directions.  so, it will always be two dimensional.  I think it should be three dimensional.

Meta-Ridley and Metroid Prime should have some new moves.  Ridley should have the "Power Stomp" ability in the North American Version, he should be able to swipe his claws at you, and other stuff like that.  Metroid Prime (First Form) should have faster reflexes, be able to walk on the walls, and have a new phisical attack.  Metroid Prime (Second Form) should be much harder.  Also, he should have a Phazon attack.

One last thing, if you are observant enough, you will find out that most enemies come back after you have traveled to a room that is not adjacent to it.  There should be cut-scenes in Phazon Mines where the Omega Pirate is making more Space Pirates.  Then, later in the game, there should be Space Pirates preparing the Omega Pirate.

Post all of your thoughts here!

I echo that sentiment, and resist the urge to create quote tunnel madness like in the x-box topic.
even though they made MP very nicely already... they should ...

Enchance their AI ... make the pirates or any creatures support each other where they present the player some challenge when you fight them

or

where u able to skip the elveator cut scene Mr. Green (its getting annoying  :( )

thats all i can think of for now.

The elevator cut-scene is basically a loading screen. The game needs the delay to prepare for the next sector.
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
The elevator cutscenes were a disguise for loading times. So unless you want a blank screen with a progress bar on it, I think the elevator scenes are a good substitute.

By the way, would you mind using "you" instead of "u", and avoid other one-letter abbreviations of the like? We want to encourage proper grammar here.
Yes Sir !! ... Must obey the proper grammer...else get flamed
I doubt we'll ever see a perfect game so yes.
I think more animations could have been added to the elevator load scene.

It's always Samus staring around wondering what's going on. I'd like to see something like Samus pulling out a cloth and cleaning her weapon or pulling off a battle pose. Just something to add variation to those few seconds of boredom.

I also think more eerie music could have been added. Older Metroid games had creepy music. Most of this is techno.
Sure the space pirate music rocks, as does the boss music and its nice to hear Norfair in Magmoor Caverns... but Phendrana drifts.... tinkly sparkly tunes... ?? The music fits the game fine but I don't think it quite keeps with traditional Metroid.

I would have wanted the scan dash to have remained in PAL! then getting the SJ first would have been even easier!
i voted yes, there is NO perfect game, there will be always glitches and mistakes

and i agree that samus should build her suit

what if samus takes of her suit and starts to upgrade it,and puts power cells in her cannon to get a new beam

Very true.  There is no perfect game, but in the same respect, there are near-perfect games.  Some with no glitches, but with other bad attributes; such as graphics, gameplay, or sound functions.

Well, I agree with the Power Cells.  Very unique.  Samus could find multiple Power Cells and stuff them into a storage box in her arsenal.  Then, when she finds a "Beam Cell," she could take out the previous Power Cells and combine the Beam Cell with them.  But, if you didn't have enough Power Cells, you wouldn't be able to get the new beam capability.  Thus, the Beam Cell would go into the storage box.

For her suit upgrades, I have to disagree with your opinion.  It would be a definite way to spoil the game for any user while playing.  Plus, Nintendo wouldn't do that.  :(

One other note:

I think that they could have come up with other better animations/cutscenes for upgrades.  Honestly.  What about you guys?  Rolling Eyes

thats a wicked idea, dont get the cells,no beam Wink
and if she has like ,let's say,25 Plasma Cells(for Plasma Beam),then she finds the Plasma-Combiner,then she have to go to somesort of station with the option to form a gun, then you see an animation of samus Combining the cells to form the gun

i had this game,that was glitch-free,people tried 3 months,no single glitch,but the graphics+gameplay:YUCK!!!

Yeah, you would see these packets of Power Cells, and when you go to the Combining Station (Marked by a "C" on the map ;)), you would see this thing like a Missile Refil thing, but it would go right into the gun and operate.  You would be able to see the gradual space of molten energy increase on the gun.

Another Note:

Why isn't there a beam combiner, such as Power and Wave; where you would see streaks of each beam go around in a spiral shape; with no range!  Each beam you get would be added.  Also, addition Strength Cells would make the beam stronger, and could towards 100%!
Prime is most excellent.  Exclamation

I suggest being able to pick between first-person or third-person modes.
Also, Retro should come up with a really cool and logical way in which Samus goes into and out of the Morph Ball instead of just a blur of motion and the two parts of the ball coming out of nowhere. Perhaps a slight liquid metal system a little bit (but not a lot!) like the Terminator 2 guy (at least something like that). Or maybe a transformation of the parts of the suit into a ball.

In Prime, I believe the transformation is masked by a flash of light. SSBM goes for the liquid metal, though.
I like that power cell idea... Would kinda force you to search even more than usual if you wanted a powerful weapon. It would no longer be just given to you when you need it but you really have to work for them.
They could have put upgrades in the hands of Chozo statues inside the silver, orange-pockmarked spheres.  One of my friends pointed that out to me a while ago and I didn't realize that I missed them until he did.

It would have been more traditional if they'd done that as opposed to having upgrades floating above a pedestal.
or you find the plasma beam IN THE BEGGINING of the game, but if you use it it will explode in your face due to a bug in the beam, you willl need to find the chip to repair and(and use it ;) )
I think you should have all of the abilities in the beginning.  If I'm not mistaken, the designers were planning on doing such a thing.

They did start you out with at least half of them.  Wink
Something I liked about Prime and Fusion is that you start off with nothing but it tells you WHY you start with nothing. Unlike the earlier ones that you just begin as basic with no reason why.

(Maybe the older upgrades are only temporary? And constant picking them up causes her suit to permanently 'save' the data)

I think the developers finally realised that too. Even though it's rather strange that that explosion in the space station trows you back so fast that you slam into the wall. Other explosions in the game never did that (to me anyway), let alone destroy the powersuit functions.
Your on a Space station with artificial gravity. all it takes is for that explosion to mess with the gravity generator (hey the station is falling apart so it could happen)

a twist in the direction of gravity or it weakening would cause Samus to blast backward much faster...

also she just mightn't have expected it.

She looked kinda shocked when it all disabledo n her so maybe she was hit with just the right force in just the right place to disable all functions.
yeah, much better that is shows you WHY,but when i was in that spaceship for the first time,i was shocked te see the suit blasting in smal pieces,my thought:OMFG,WTF WAS THAT....THING?????(at meta-ridley)
I seen MEta-Ridley and went "RIDLEYS IN THIS!?!?!?!? AAAHHHHHH!!!!!!"
