apparently nintendo announced a lineup of GC games upgraded with wii controls. it includes pikmin, DK jungle beat, metroid prime 1+2 and a few others atm.

they'll be budget priced and will be released under a special label (kinda like touch generations series)

sooo, who will bite and get mp1+2 wii?
i know i will. the metroid fan and collector in me is pushing me for it.
Thread title:
I like it when nintendo does anything metroid related because it shows that they value the series.  i ten d to doubt how much they value the series when nothing happens for too long of a period.  BUT, I much prefer the GCN controls over wii.  :(  In fact I often wish that there was a way to play MP3 using my GCN controller.  Just my preference.

The rumors were true:  Metroid Prime 1 and 2 ported to Wii.

Some GC games are being redone for Wii under the "Let's Play On Wii" banner.  It is unknown if the Wii remote is the input or GC controller.  Here's a pic of Pikmin redone in 16:9 pic.  Check out your favorite gaming news site for all of the JP Nintendo conference news (& NA conference is coming up).  No new Metroid games from Japan.

The current list (via Famitsu): Chibi Robo, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, Mario Tennis GC, Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2: Dark Echoes, Pikmin, Pikmin 2

i saw this quote in another thread. i think it fits better here.

also, mario tennis gc remade for wii means we won't see a wii version probably. a downer since i wanted them to start from scratch but on the other hand tennis games have very little variation. also, the game sold very low and deserves a second chance.

btw, gc controls have to be a shoe-in for these games. i imagine it would take more work to take out the old controls than to just support both of them. having all options is the best always (mario kart wii is a good example)
First videos of Pikmin and DK:JB, the games which are coming first.

DK clearly shows Wiimote+Nunchuck interface.  They both show 16:9 widescreen.  Will SD TV sets get bars like shown in the videos?

I'll probably end up getting the Prime re-releases, provided they're on the same disc. If they're sold seperately, I'll just get Prime 1, since I already own Echoes.
red chamber dream
Even though I prefer the 'Cube controls, I'll definitely get Prime because it's Prime and because I'd like to see if it's even possible to do any of the Sequence Breaks. Dunno about Echoze... if it's cheap enough, then why not?
I might get Prime at some point. But yeah, I can't stress how much the GC controls of Prime are my favourite control system on any platform. It's so natural, without being a wiggly bridge between game and reality (like MP:3)
Definately Pickup Metroid Prime... but Echoes? No.

And Pikmin too? I never heard about this until you made this thread, so thanks!

Pikmin's gunna be sick!  :P
I'll likely pick up Prime, dunno about Echoes. Should be interesting to see how much will change... they'll probably base it off the PC version though. :(

Rhonin the Wizard of SPPf posted this, and I knew this would work its way here.

Prime most definitely. :D Prime 2? Like I'd be interested enough to play through that again...

wouldnt they bundle them ?  i cant imagine them selling them separately
So would they remove some the sequence breaks from prime or would they not bother with that?
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I figure it will just be the Player's Choice version with Wii controls.

I have to concur with tomatobob.  But.... there may be possibilities.

What's the difference between Player's Choice version and regular?

If only this forum was connected to a website that was primarily dedicated to breaking the Metroid games from the year 2002. And if only that site had a Version Differences section for the first Prime.
Someone needs to get on that.
dude, t.bob, do you mind if i steal that idea? i think i could make a great site based on that ...

It would probably be based off of the "DOL-GM8E-0-02 USA/JPN: North American Player's Choice" Version...meaning it will suck for SB =\

If they are re-doing the controls they might also remove even more SBs.

Edit: Aw tomatobob already said that...oh well

Oh yeah.

Apparently us Americans got the short end of the stick in Prime 1. =/ The versions in other coutries seem to be improved.

Uh, wait. Is...is the Prime that comes with a Prime 2 demo the Player's Choice version? It doesn't have a yellow marking, so I'm assuming it's not, but...

I guess, to be honest I'd probably never get around to it or make it a rush job.

I'd rather see it done well if at all.
Jagger ftw
how the heck are we gonna do the dashes in wii?

It is.  My friend next door has it and the locks are on the doors.  I'm wondering if half the people on this forum actually read the main site....  I'm not sure whether to get these Wii versions yet.  As much as I love Corruption's controls, I already own both MP and MP2 and I doubt the SBs will be in the Wii versions.  If they don't remove SWs, though, we can still get IBBF and Echoes' early Power Bomb.
Jagger ftw
pc version also come on its own (it says Player's choice on the top) and the one with echos demo doesn't says player's choice, but it has bunch of extra echoes shit on the front.

I wish there was a website, maybe one made early on this decade, that talked about everything Metroid-related. And maybe it could have a list of version differences, or something, and then you'd be able to tell if we "apparently" did or didn't get the "short end of the stick." Maybe they could have their own forum too.

(Yeah I know I'm late to the party. Bite me.)
