The head sort of looks like her from closer up, but there are definitely differences. These are about the best views I can get since the scene happens so fast:
Yeah, I'm kinda bewildered that people here are even debating whether it's the scene from Super Metroid.
Anyway, another pic that makes it more obvious that it's Mother Brain:
Just 'cause all this flashback stuff was in the trailer, it doesn't mean it's in the game, I guess. Super Metroid had similar flashbacks in the opening sequence. Though since they were such a prominent part of the trailer, I kinda think that means they're more than just flashbacks.
man you really ARE blind, I thought people were just trolling that they didn't see mother brain... but you're actually serious? Either that or an excellent troll.
I'm blind? Are you saying that really looks anything like the MB from Super Metroid? I never said it ISN'T MB, I'm even pretty sure it's supposed to be
then what's the point of disputing it?
I'd expect a mod of a metroid site to have a more descerning eye for metroid characters, that's all.
So my friend alerted me to this a short while ago.
Notice the Missile counter at the top? Why would it be there on the 2010 screen? If you read closely it says 3 / 25, as in 3 missiles remaining out of 25. But 3/25, could this be a hint at a release date? 3/25/2010? Let the conspiracies begin.
Crap. That looks nothing like the guy I tried to "remember." >_< It's not the most ridiculous theory I had though. My first thought had been "Uh...that guy that hugged the elite in the special ending of Halo?"

How many conspiracies for any stuff like this at all has ever been true? Anyway I doubt they know when the game will be released yet.
You know, I'm wondering about the graphics. The cutscenes look really detailed and everything and the "in-game" scenes look Gamecube quality only. I wonder if this is a stylistic decision or...i don't know. Seems odd though, hopefully the ingame graphics will be amped up.

it doesn't come out for another year. this is just a quick trailer they threw together using the crappy graphics they're currently working with. of course they'll be better in the actual game.
I'm not digging the human character design in this game AT ALL. Also, why Team Ninja, of all companies??? The Metroid series is very mystical and has little to no emotion to it (I like Samus as a silent character, like Gordon Freeman), and I think the company is gonna turn it into a drama-and-violence fest, which is completely out of character with the rest of the series... God this game better be good when it comes out, OR ELSE...
I actually wouldn't mind if they went more action-y with this one, it might not end up very Metroid like, but if you can do half the shit the trailer showed off in game it'd still probably be fun as hell.
I like the idea of being able to get physical with the enemies. I mean really, if an enemy gets in Samus's face you can't do anything but back away and shoot. Now if he gets in your face you can swing around his neck and fire a charge shot down his throat. Hell yeah.
