In a few months/weeks, i want to start creating my own metroid game using Allegro.  It's still a work in progress, but I think soon enough I should have it ready.

Previews:

---------

Thus far, I have all the lowercase and half of the uppercase.

It's going to be a while before I can get this working in a word processor (Like MS Word). Due to the fact that the program I am using a program that creates fonts only for allegro games.

After I get it done, does anyone know a program that can allow me to create it into a word processor accessible font?

Hows it look?
Thread title:
Looks good so far.  What program are you using behind Paint in your first image?
That looks really impressive! I'm sure there's some software that'll let you turn it into a TrueTyoe font file or something. I look forward to seeing it finished! :)

Is it possible if you could give me the software's name?  Also, what is a TrueType?

@Gamma_Metroid

It's a program that was make creating custom fonts for video games created using the Allegro game library (it's free), download link:

I don't know of any specific program, but chances are, there is one. TrueType is a type of font file that a lot of downloadable fonts on the interwebs use.

Vague vagueness is vague.

basically it's the standard (.ttf) you'll want to use if you plan on distributing your font to others, as it's supported by most platforms.

You might want to take a look at this.

i do my best :P
I'd like to give a little update on the status of it.

I've gotten all of the lowercase and almost all of the uppercase, i got all the numbers as well other things, all that I need are:

! - exclamation mark, is there anyone who can get me a screenshot of this, you can find it:
Right when Samus starts talking to Adam in SRX and says to open the hatch

J - Capital j

K - Capital k

V - Capital v

Z - capital z

I'd be really gratefull if someone could get me screenshots of these.

There are some other symbols that I still need ( #, $, &, *, +, /, <, =, >, @, [, \, ], ^, {, |, }, ~, `)  but I dought they are in there, but I can try making them in the metroid fusion style.

On a side note, I found another font that is used in there, I'll try to get it in a week.
Destroyer of Pirates
this is very good, couldn't you hack one of the fusion text parts an add all the letters you need, i could be wrong as i dont use double helix though
Hmm.  Is there a way you use some kind of adapter to plug the cartridge into your computer?  That way you could just copy the font from the cartridge and get a perfectly accurate, complete font.

i don't know much about rom hacking, but isn't there some way to get it that way?

The cable exists,

just haven't seen the parallel ports on PC's in a looooong time.

And a font won't just appear, probably just the .gba and .sav file.

@ kennon
Thank you, I've never even heard of double helix, the text editor helped me.  I had to go into the foreign langauges sections of the text to find the capitals that I need.  That thing might also help when i try to get all the foreign characters.  I've seen the Japanese Hiragana work on it (but i crashed when i saw it).

@arkarian
The double Helix offers a "text editor" thing where I can see excepts of the text, and modify it.  But I never got the modifier to work:

Anyways...

Font is done, well, the Allegro version is:

Some of the characters are custom ($, #, @, {, },).

I think that & symbol is in metroid fusion, can anyone confirm this for me, so I can get it fixed from what I have.

I'm going to see if I can get it into a .ttf file soon enough so it can be uses in things like Photoshop.

Do the attached pictures help? Very Happy

I tried typing all of the characters, by the way, but a lot of them don't appear.  I presume it's because they're not available.

Yes they did, but can you try to get me these (the text editor isn't working for me)

\  - Backslash

I'll try to get a few of these letters and symbols for you as well.  At least, if DH's text editor works for me(haven't had to use the text editor yet, but it should work).  I don't see why certain characters would be unavailable though, maybe inter could add a few more in the next DH release.
Pretty sure there's no & ever said. It's very likely though that the game has unused characters.

^See above. Razz

They were all typed into the text editor in DH, but they just don't appear in-game.
My bad, I need to read stuff better.

Well, i guess the thing is complete then.

In fact, I may have missed the backslash.  I'll get that for you later today if you still require it? Eh?
I don't think I need it.
