Aegis is one of the strangest things/teases ever to happen in the already strange world of SM hacking. Projects are started and stopped all the time, but this certainly seemed different. It will likely never see the light of day, and we'll likely never know why. About once every few months I check just out of curiosity, but yeah...
The story is not more complex than that. Asheron stopped working on his hack when real life took over. His hack is on indefinite pause until he resurfaces. He may never resurface. People should assume that the hack is not going to be released unless Acheron appears and says otherwise.
I've assumed that for a long time. This dialogue is pointless. "Real life" took over doesn't even mean anything. Everyone has a "real life" and everyone to varying degrees has interests and hobbies. If he's forever too busy to finish the game, and never resurfaces, so be it. I think a lot of people who were looking forward to this justifiably wish he'd say one way or another, but they have ZERO right to ask or expect it. Like I said, I briefly check this thread every several months (longer each time) on that slight chance, but any real belief that I might play this someday has been gone for two years or more.
Well, then just assume he died. And if you've already lost any real hope, why do you even bother at this point? I agree with it not happening but still.
Acheron did say that he was busy with real life. Just because he didn't come into every thread on every site to say so doesn't change the fact that he said it.
Yeah, a while back. Nintendo then stole it, released it as an official Nintendo product on cartridge, then Acheron sent them a Cease and Decist, and they're currently in a vicious legal battle in the supreme court, which is being streamed live via Twitch. I checked in a few hours ago, and it had descended into a huge food fight. Ol' Shigeru got hit with a tomato early on, and animated GIFs quickly appeared online labelled Miyamato.
