we're expecting the rom by three days from now.
Thread title:
so nate- do you think this game is good for me to get it to play it on my dumb 7 year-old sister's GBA-SP, or will it be SO awesome I should just get my own?
we'll be sure to fill you in.

*sigh*...
lol no way
Well, needless to say, I won't be checking out this forum until I've found all the items and a good deal of sequence breaking. I ruined Prime and Fusion by using a guide. Terrible idea. Made me mad, cause SM was so much harder without a guide... anyway, I'm set on not using anything till I find all the stuff myself.
EGM gave the game 9.0/9.0/9.5, which is damn good in my opinion.
Apparently it got game of the month too... 8)

Maybe this time I'll join in on the sequence breaking... I have the recording technology.
if it's anything like prime, we will be able to use all the help we can get.

You are very right Nate-VERY right.
Something I thought of: If it uses the Fusion engine, then the same techniques in the Fusion section of this site could probably be used (jump extend, low-level shinespark, underwater wall jump...).  But that might mean wall jumping is exactly like the wall jumping in Fusion, which I didn't like very much.
>_>

so how much are a new GBA or GBA SP these days?
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
A GameBoy Player would be your cheapest option, running at about $50 US. If you really want it to be portable, you could maybe find yourself a used original GBA for around that, but I'd say the extra features on the SP warrent the extra money you'd spend on it.

Don't get your hopes up for a Super Wall Jump, unless it becomes an item around the same time as the Space Jump. The original Metroid had quite a few straight wall cliffs that are supposed to be "barriers". Besides, jumping over and over off one wall is kinda silly, if you think about it.

But lifeforce sucking flying jellyfish aren't, of course.

Heh... well, it's silly in a physics way, which is the only time video games try to be realistic.

Only in certian areas. Wall jumping by itself is pretty implausable, but it enhances the gameplay and doesn't feel too off-the-wall, so who cares?

Videogames (should) only stick to realistic physics when they enhance the gameplay, and feel free to throw them out the window at times in order to create new experiences. What would Mario do if his 50 foot jump was bound by the laws of physics? How would the Prince get past even the first area if gravity affected his wall run?  And what the hell is keeping those floating platforms suspended in midair?

Realism should never be a crutch in videogames, and that includes realistic physics.

Well, it's an issue I feel strongly on. It'll be my platform when I run for President.

"Off-the-wall"...I get it.

Your magical, floating, physics-defying platform, I'm guessing.

I will rule with an iron fist, but yeild when neccesary. Like a Twinkie filled with lead.
yes, very well put Mr. Green
Ok, are you serious about the rom release in 3 days? o_O I can't believe it'd be out so soon.

I'ma try to sequence break the game! Wooo!

Unless Nate secretly works for Nintendo and is leaking it himself, I highly doubt he can accuratly say when the ROM will be out. More likely, he taking a jab at Nintendo because of how early Fusion got leaked. I imagine Nintendo will be more careful this time, so the ROM release won't be that early.

It'll be more like four days. :P
That ZM promo was pretty sweet.  I liked how the music and the video were coordinated.
