Making a SM Hack, would like some help

Ok. So, you'll get Crateria... Will you just take the surface, the underground, or both? I think I'll deal with maybe the Wrecked Ship... Also, if you're using SMILE, you can change the area names.

What would you like it to look like??

E.G.

Lava area, snow area, dark caverns like etc

Fear Me! (Or else...)

The ship area ought to be fairly easy, like it is in the original, and just a little harder when you get to the morphing ball and such. Please, though, no varia-suitless heat. Also, if you use lava, plz use the clear kind that doesn't hurt you with the gravity suit. That way, you can hide items deep in it that you have to come back and get later, like the powerbombs, or xray, or a beam, or something. Hopefully, something that you would actually need.

Grrr... I talked to my parents about this, mentioning I had finally gotten somebody to help me out with this, and they weren't happy. They're not letting me download anything, b/c they're worried it might have a virus or something, so even if somebody else would compile it, I wouldn't be able to play it. Gr. Of course, I asked if I did a little research on the zsnes, to see if it had any known holes in it that could be exploited with a virus, and didn't come up with anything, if I could do it then, and he said yes. So, for now, it's gonna have to be ideas only -( sorry. Rats, I did not expect this...

McAfee Security Client helps. It can scan download files to see if it's safe. You are going to need admin's rights to install it.

Except my parents probably wouldn't let me do that, either... They did say that if I researched the zsnes, and found no holes in it, then yes, I could do it. Oh, well... Can any of you guys help me out? Also, can you just at least help with ideas for now?

Tell them that many hundreds (or thousands?) of people have used it and no "virus" has ever been documented by the downloaders. And why the hell would your parents not allow you to install something that prevents what they don't want?

Idk. They don't really trust the internet, and we do have virus scanners and such. I will mention that thing about the zsnes tho.

why dont we join them together!?!

im working on metroid impulse right now. its about 10% done. though i havent done much in a while. ive got the first area completely remade. and ive started working on another part which i wont talk about here cause i dont want to spoil it too much.

but yeh whadaya think?

Well, it would depend on what area you have finished, b/c Crateria has been claimed, as has the Wrecked Ship. I'm not quite sure on how to add rooms, so we're just keeping the general map the same. Also, read my last couple posts on this topic. I can't directly work with someone, but we can share screenshots and ideas. Also, right now, to help this along, I'm going through and making a list of the rooms, defining which area a room is in, and most of the time describing which room it is.

New notice! We now have a website. It is located at http://sites.google.com/site/smhackteam/
I put in a page where we have a patch attached, so you can download what we have so far. Unfortunately, I accidentally edited the side room in a minor side hack I was working on, plus we have no areas or room done yet. I, however, did make a second patch that you can use for training skills. You can train wall jumping, and bomb jumping, as well as mid-air morph. I also made a series of crumbling blocks, long enough to even challenge an expert crumbling block expert. I'll attach it very soon in the website, so you can try it out. Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out how to make it skip the intro in Ceres. My best idea is to make a door in there that leads to Crateria, but I can't do hex editing, so I can't do it. So, you'll have to suffer through it, and then work on training. Enjoy this, and our group hack progress updates. Tell me if you have any problems.

SMILE > Edit > Special > Game Behavior > click right once > click back left > uncheck show intro = no Ceres, if that helps.

Oh, cool! Thanks soo much! I'll add that, so it's just training. Don't expect any combat, although I might work on adding a separate side room with a boss or two. Ya know, I think I'll make a series of four room with the bosses. No recharges in between. I might just make a bunch of room, so that you can never actually get through it all. Then you'd have to just keep fighting until you die. It's not for winning or items, it's for training. I'll work on adding that. I'll need just one more thing, though: How, when you level a room to bitmap, do you apply that?
