Fear Me! (Or else...)
Hi, I'm starting out on making an SM hack. I have spent the past week or so getting the hang of SMILE, which is the program I'm using. Now that i think I'm ready, would anybody like to help me out with this? I'm going to attempt to do a full hack. I've gotten the suit design done, and I think that looks good. So, anybody interested?
Thread title:
We have a nice SMILE help thread up there, I suggest you use that for questions.  Unless of course you're posting content here or something.
Fear Me! (Or else...)
I'm not asking a question about SMILE, I'm asking if somebody would like to do a collaborative hack with me USING SMILE, lol.

Edit: also, I have the suits completed, except I might want to modify the gravity one a little, and those are looking good. I'm going to go through the game, room by room, and change it so it's different big time, sometimes harder, sometimes easier, and sometimes the same difficulty. There will be no room that will remain the same, though.

Pictures please for proof.

Here are what the suits look like, though I'm still going to edit the gravity suit somewhat:
The image is attached, since I couldn't figure out how to post it here lol.

The last one burns my retinas!!!

You might find it hard to get someone to work on a hack with you at the moment. Most people who hack are in the midst of their own project. Also, we've been trying to put together a collaborative hack from the whole community, but as far as I've heard, no progress has been made in sometime.

I do like your first 2 suits, and it's always nice to hear that a fullhack is in the making, so best of luck!

Thanks. As i said, the last suit I am still working on. I was thinking of going with a blue theme, but any suggestions to go with a different theme instead? I was trying white out, but I never really got that one going...

Breathe in the Future, Breathe out the Past
Just a heads up, collab hacks don't usually end well. There is already one in the works (hopefully still), so I doubt anyone will join in on this. My suggestion is to play around designing some more till you're confident enough to take on the whole hack.
Fear Me! (Or else...)
That's what I've been doing for the past week. I'm ready to work on a whole hack now, although the SMILE text editor is apparently not working... Any comments about that?

Also, any ideas for the color scheme of the last suit?

It is entirely too bright in my opinion.  Keep teal if you really want to, but make it a little darker on the edges.  The worst thing I think you can do to any of the suits is color too much of it the same way; the problem being that you lose all the little details that show its shape.  The other suits looked fine.
Fear Me! (Or else...)
Thx, and I agree. I just don't think that blue looks good on it, so I'm thinking I ought to use a different color for it. Any ideas for what color? Maybe red...
I don't like those suits as much as the originals since they are monochrome for the most part. I would like some kind of contrast at least. And I know of no coop hacks that have been finished.

For the color, I think dark blue would be good for the gravity suit.
Fear Me! (Or else...)
Ok. I was thinking of going with a semi-light color suit, since a dark-color one would look a little too much like the varia one for comfort. Honestly, maybe red is a good idea... Though I'm definately not going with green. That wouldn't look that good with the others.
A pink suit would be hilarious. A pink plasma beam would also be hilarious.

Could we edit the plasma charge so it would shoot flowers?  Pleeeeease?
Fear Me! (Or else...)
Not pink, red. Also, I'm still trying to figure out how to modify the beams with SMILE, but I don't think it's possible... Also, I g2g. I'll be back in about an hour.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'd recommend staying away from bright colors for the suit. If you're planning to do a red suit, try something between maroon and crimson. I, personally, would probably go with a navy/midnight blue, maybe something a bit lighter.

Also, you don't have to tell people if you're leaving for a short period of time on a forum. It bugs me when people mistake a message board for a chatroom.

Hey uNsane. Didn't know you would be checking stuff here. And about the time thing, these have time stamps, and I've been replying pretty quickly to posts, so I was letting people know why I wasn't going to be responding for a bit. Also, about the suit advice, thanks. I'll try that out, and attach it to a post when I get it figured out.
Fear Me! (Or else...)
Is anybody going to reply? I'm waiting for something to respond to lol
Like Card said, most people are already working on their own individual hacks right now.  I think there were free rooms in the community hack, maybe you could grab some rooms to design and try to revive it?
Fear Me! (Or else...)
Possibly... except I'm wanting to start a hack and just have a couple people work on it with me lol. I would just like one or two extra points of views and ideas to help me out. Thanks for the info, though. Also, I just found out my grandpa was just put in the hospital, so I probably won't be on for the rest of today, or tomorrow. Possibly the day after. Goodbye for now.
If you want opinions on your hack, the best thing to do would be to make a portion of it, then  compile a demo video, or post some screenshots. Even better than that, you could go on IRC to #jzd on irc.esper.net and share your ideas there. Not only will you get opinions, but the people are also very helpful for questions about SMILE/hacking in general.

There's not too many bad people on #jzd, it's that they probably want to see proof that you can actually pull something off, in which they would give you advice and criticism.

You either get some jocks that won't tell you crap, or you get seriously helpful people.
