Lower Brinstar Remix - Super Metroid

I made this song myself. It was for a competition and I came in first place. I got bonus points for putting video game sfx into the song, and in this case, it was Mario from SSBM. Enjoy. :)

I like it! You made a good job on this tune. How ever there is one thing I can mark out as bad: The sound of mario you added.
It really only sound wrong.
Maybe this is only me, But I prefer music with only music. (instruments etc)

Yeah, the Mario sound effects are very distracting and out of place in a Metroid theme. I'll admit, at first I wasn't sure about the actual music, but as I heard the rest of it I started to really like it.

I thought the Mario sound effects were the best part. If I wanted Metroid music, I'd go play Metroid.

Not sure on the Mario effects... but I liked the tune, if some of it sounded MIDI (mainly the Lead Instrument during techno), and some of the choir/electric piano. Percussion was very well, so was techno instruments.

for me. If it sounded a lil' less MIDI-ish, and no Mario sounds (just cut them for now, if you can, add something that actually contributes to the song). Do that, I'd give you 5/5. Well done though. :)

Well, to be more detailed, I inserted Mario sounds because the competition I made it for had a bonus. The bonus for that month was to have video game sound effects so I googled just that and the first thing I found was Mario. It seemed convenient and since the only thing Metroid could offer as far as sounds goes would be gun shots and doors opening, I chose Mario instead. I did not take Mario out of the song because I wanted to present the same song that I presented to the competition.

I hope that justifies why I inserted Mario into the song.

That was pretty cool, but I'm not entirely sure what to think about the Mario sound effects, awesome and a little odd at the same time.

I forgive you. I'm just nitpicking too much. My criticism is one of the last you should "seriously" consider, since all I cared to read about it is that you used a Mario sound effect. :^P

Well, in Super Metroid it was this red area within Brinstar. I believe it might've connected to Kraid's Lair or something.

Correct. It is to be honest, a junction for many areas IMO. Kraid is sorta out the way in there.

Good job, sir! With Lower Brinstar never truly being emphasized in the actual gameplay of Super Metroid it's good to hear of someone who is knowledgeable of a named area not named in the game. If it helps, the same song was remixed for Lower Torvus Bog from Metroid Prime 2: Echoes as well.
