Not sure if this was a glitch or not, but the first time I entered the Underground Tunnel (via Torvus Temple), I faced right and saw a Grenchler (Baby Sheegoth on crack) at the end, just hanging out and waddling around in the water.  I grabbed the missle expansion and exited back into Torvus Temple.  When I went back into the tunnel, the Grenchler was gone.  Odd, huh?  He's never been back yet either.

lol no way
Yeah, the first time you enter that room there's a grenchler... he didn't attack you? Weird.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
That's pretty lucky, i've had grenchlers attack just because I entered the room and he walks in grabes the Missile Expansion and leaves, without it so much as looking atim in a threatening manner.

As far as I know there was no attack.  I didn't face him long enough to find out.  I just grabbed the missle expansion because I heard it below.  The Grenchler did make noise though.
Took me ten minutes to beat him in that cramped up room.  :P

It doesn't really matter if they attack or not...they're not very hard to beat. But I guess it's still cool if they don't attack.
well not every wild animal you come across will attack you, not even if they are a vicious predator.

Yeah, but this is Metroid we're talking about.
lol I was kidding ;)

Oh, sarcasm isn't allowed on this forum. Didn't you hear?

I think I found an easy way to beat them!  I was fighting one when I just kept missileing its back as soon as I could again, and it didn't turn around until I stopped! :D
Super missiles, the only way to go.
Lemon Zinger Weapon
And if you don't have them yet?
Charged dark beam + missile to the back will knock off the shell, then proceed as normally.  I think that's probably less ammo-intensive than either, maybe quicker as well.
Lemon Zinger Weapon
I guess so.  But they all work :D
Doesn't really matter what you use... just remember to dodge ;)
2 charged Dark Beam shots kill them on normal. 3 or 4 on hard. Stop using Missiles! Light/Dark all the way!
Lemon Zinger Weapon
But missiles are so fun!

Yeah, one or two charged Dark/Light Beam shots will kill most medium-hard common enemies in the game. Maybe a missile, too.
It takes a super missile to take out the shell and a charged shot to kill it. The thing is a super missile takes 5 missiles, charged dark/light takes 5 ammo... what's the difference? The difference is that missiles are more expendable.
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
Other difference is: Super Missiles take longer to shoot.  So, go Dark Beam.
Why not take the passive way, ignore them, get the missle, leave, even if it does notice you, its what, 30 damage if it smacks you with lightening? Save time/missles/ammo!

Yes, but Super Missiles will home in on the target, which always helps with fatser-moving enemies (not the Grenchlers though).
And Dark Beam freezes him so he won't be able to run away!

I don't think you'll be able to hit a Grenchler's back if you're so far away that you have to make use of the homing mechanism.  And Dark Beam splash still does wonders.
