I have never learned to use Mockball on the SNES so i decided i'll try to learn on an emulator; I was wondering where i should test this out first or if i should make a small hack using SMILE.

Any info. is greately appreciated.

(I wasn't sure where to post this due to the fact it has to do with: hacks, glitches ect.
Thread title:
Do it on Brinstar for the early reserve tank + super.
There is plenty of space in the original game to practice.  I hope you have a usb controller, mockballing with a keyboard isn't much fun.
Also, a link to the last time this came up:

Isn't that hard, even in realtime. The trickiest part is sliding your finger from down to right while holding jump, but anyone who's tried to play street fighter on an emulator won't have a problem with that :P
What'd you say?
thanks for the help guys

I find it easier to mockball with a keyboard, rather than a controller.
Annoying
Why did you even post this in the first place? Your sig says your so good at SBing that you get Missiles before Morph Ball, unless Prime is the only other metroid you ever played.

I had the hardest time learning to mockball because for some strange reason I had it in my head that I needed to keep holding the run button.  Only after asking for help did I learn that JUMP is the button I need to keep held the whole time.  Now I can mockball without even thinking about it, messing up is rare.  Only move that takes alot of tries and patience for me is IBJ.

It's a joke about super metroid.....
I always found the "noob" bridge an excellent place to practice mockball. The lower ceiling clearance demands development of skill at the move :)  Plus it's fun to roll across all those crumble blocks.

I'd like to correct a few things about your avatar. First, the bass is being played in the wrong way. You finger with your left hand and bow with your right. Second, it says samus is in band camp, and the double bass is in orchestra.
Ah-ha!  I finally have an excuse...

Well, it isn't Christmas Mr. Bolognab.  laugh new
plasma beam v.2.0
just do what it says to do, i usually morph just after the peak (in crateria, this puts me at the center of the ship half a screen up), and mockball to the green door.

bolagnab, reading that just made my day!

True, but what if Samus is left handed and playing the double bass in a contemporary bluegrass band or something?
A bass isn't a guitar.

Bluegrass bands don't have "band camp". They have practices.

Hey, I didn't say it.
Way Off Topic:

Upright players pretty much ALL learn to play right-handed.  Kinda like how all trumpet players use the right hand on the valves, and all French Horns use the left hand.  Heck, lots of leftys play righty anyway because there are more (and cheaper) gear choices!

On Topic:

Having a close ceiling helps me to mockball/speedball.  The tunnel in the elevator room in Norfair, early Super Missiles, or the Noob Bridge are easier for me to do than starting one at the landing site.
^ well there you go man, Samus even owns a spaceship. I mean, she's loaded! Surely she could afford to spend a bit more to accommodate her left-handed bass playing.

"Double bass" is another term for upright bass. I never said it was a guitar...

This is the only forum I know of where the comment about contemporary bluegrass band camp would be far fetched, while a bounty hunter from outer space learning to play an upright while wearing a space suit of alien origin isn't.
I'm not sure you understand. You can play a guitar with both hands, depending on the player's dominant hand. You cannot however, play a bass with alternating hands. The ONLY way to play a bass is with your left hand fingering and your right hand bowing. Understand?
:-s I understand, but you need left and right handed guitars, too... You can't alternate hands on a guitar. If you just flip a right handed guitar over and play it left handed you'd have your high E string where you low E should be. That's why there's a market far left handed musicians. Same goes for bowed instruments. So Samus is playing a left handed bass. She's using her dominant hand to bow. See what I mean?
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Actually, it is entirely possible to flip a right handed guitar and play it left handed. I seem to remember hearing that Jimi Hendrix did that.
Well sure, but he strung the guitar especially for that. See?

Upside down guitar with the fat strings on top, going to the tuning pegs the high strings normally do. Cool guy, that Hendrix.

This is a weird little argument/discussion thingy...

I wonder if Jimmy is any good at mock ball.......LOL
