Is this to do with getting as much of the map pink upon exiting your ship at the start? if it is that looks about right what you got there. What I used to is get bombs and then come back and fill the whole area pink. Bomb jumping isn't that hard but trying to bomb jump for over a minute isn't. I used to stress myself out sometimes doing this lol
A type of speed run I had in mind once was total map completion speed run. Collecting whatever items nesassary to traverse to entire planet as fast as possible. it would be like a 100% run I guess but still it would need a lot of planning I think. Not to mention the run itself probably taking about 1 hour 20 minutes to complete for in game time at best, approximately.
Behemoth: Glad someone shares my interest in map clearing. Everytime I have played Sumer Metroid, it was always with 100%-complete map completion. However, I have never seen her nude, and thus maybe I should focus more on completing the game in under, lets see, my 8-or-so-hours record. I have never gotten over 93% in items either, I believe. I believe any time I have played the game in my life it always was the same items that were missing from my inventory.
By the way, returning to the main subject of the thread, I believe one could almost grasp and reach to reveal the upper-right map squares. I have abandonned though, but I believe I've tried for a good few minutes.
woo revelation. There is one more block revealable on the map. You have to get on to the rock structure to the right of your ship and get a big run up and jump from the top of it to the right and get a wall jump from a piece of rock hanging from the big ledge above. It's a really difficult wall jump to get as there's maybe 1 frame in it to trigger it. I knew it was possible because the wall jump animation was there. It will propell you into an alcove above revealing the last square.
The worst thing about revealing the entire game's map is all of the rooms that are NEVER used. Not so much those that are on alternative routes to normal, but things like the Missile Recharge behind the rolling tendril-mouthed things. I've never seen anybody go in there.
true. Yea that is a very underused area you mentioned come to think of it. But a 100% map completion run could have some speed optimsations to go with it. in maridia where you fall down the sand underneath the energy tank after botwoon. You go down one sand pit and then use the secret tunnel in there that joins onto the other sand pit.
Also just general skill with knowing where the game registers a "new" square on the map to avoid going too far out your way to trigger it. it could be a very skillful run. It would probably never be done but I would certainly watch one.
The only game I have ever tried to fill the whole map on is SotN. My current Super Metroid 100% route leaves out a bunch of rooms since they are unnecessary.
That map clearance concept looks cool. Reading your post, I think I learned the existence of a secret passage, where in the past I always would have to do a boring walkabout up to do the other sand pit down. I have never discovered any kind of secret passage there. Interesting!
Back to the landing area. I have not yet suceeded in doing anything other than triggering that wall-jumping animation, talking of that right-hand map area. Instead, I have practiced my wall-jumping skills by, in the "island pit" below, jumping from island to ledge and back to upper island, a thus-8-wall-jump sequence leading back out of that pit.
I have then returned way left, where I discovered another (or maybe even two, possibly) possible wall jump, way up there. It still doesn't seem enough to get that missing map piece filled in, but what do I know.
Giving up, I've returned right, where I invented (or better, designed) an island wall-jump trick consisting of jumping from one of its edges to the other, ad infinitum.
precisely. It's a very difficult wall jump though and it's essential to get a run up for it along that rock structure first to be able to reach that hanging bit of wall. Or rather get that 1 or so frame wall jump check animation from it.
oh my god. where did i take that image from? in my mind, fast completion times rewarded the player with incredibly sexier samus physique. she was not wearing black, but rather purple, used rags, -- quite dirty, isn't it? :) -- and, adding to that obscene, or rather lust-arousing clothing, a floating-in-space, bent-knees, almost fetal-like, relaxed posture.
where did i take that image from, i do not know. i really do wonder. i suppose i have seen it a few days ago, while browsing the web. i cannot seem to get my hands back on it, though -- presuming the thing is but a product of my imagination. i really should draw it. it still is vivid in my mind. strange thing is, it is pretty unusual for me to take vision for concrete-life happenstances.
Err, what? If you're on about the views of Samus during the credits, it has two main stages. In the first she removes her helmet, and in the second she removes her suit.
yep, but this one isn't lust arousing. the one in my mind, was. this one provokes little interest in me. the other one was alive. this one provokes nothing -- sadly for you guys, who hadn't the vision i had, an image seemingly abstracted from my own mind processes, as there is no way in hell the image i saw concretely exists, contrary to my initial thoughts, as an exhaustive review of samus-art representations has not brought anything resembling, to any degree whatsoever, the contents of my vision.
/i must indeed be looking strange to you. whatever. :)
Sometimes certain music I've never heard before I feel like I've heard it years and years ago as a child. Almost like that bit of music resonates with me in my subconcious. It can be like a riff within a song or something.
