I'm sure I've seen it done RTA somewhere, or am I imagining it? I can't find it in a run but I'm sure I saw someone pull it off.
Thread title:
Are you talking about a one round on the charge beam beast? It's been done in tas, but I haven't seen it done rta yet.
Not a one rounder, just getting 2 missiles off instead of 1, so 2 rounds instead of 3. Or am I imagining it? The fact I can't find anything makes me think the latter.
Just about every runner does doubles against the charge beam beast nowadays. You should be able to find it in at least one or two runs if you look at mobiusman's recorded runs topic.
Ah there, thanks. So how is it done? Is it just spam & hope or is there a specific timing?
What I do is press shoot then jump really quickly one after the other, and then after holding jump I wait a fraction of a second (not a lot, but I can tell that I am waiting) and then shoot again.
It looked something like that, I remember ddarch saying it had a 2 frame window somewhere, probably *GDQ. Cheers man.
There usually isn't much reason to not go for at minimum one double on king worm, so basically every runner goes for it, even if the consistency is low (going for two, however, sets you at 0 missiles after the fight which makes hive room suck more if drops don't cooperate, assuming king worm doesn't give you drops)
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
The trick is to shoot and spin-jump at the exact same time, this causes the missile to be shot from the bottom of Samus' sprite giving plenty of time to launch that second missile. Also note that after doing a spin-jump, you can 'unspin' by pressing up or down and you will continue to rise, so your series of button inputs may resemble (without timing information): up, right+A+B, A, A+up, A, A, [nothing], B. Where R is simply held whenever B is pressed. This trick isn't absolutely necessary; you can shoot and immediately jump, then shoot as close to its eye as possible
I found I was able to do this pretty easily.  I had more difficulty learning the acid worm skip.  Is about the same button mash as with mecha ridley, only you add a shot before the jump.
