It would be awesome if this hasn't been made, imagine the possibilities:
-Boss rush best times, with and without re-records

That is the only one I've thought of so far asides from the fun of playing it.
Thread title:
That's an interesting idea. There isn't one as far as I'm aware. How do you think it'd work? Collecting the suit powerup items as you defeat more bosses, maybe 2-3 per boss? But then e-tanks and a lot of missiles would also be needed, so perhaps you'd have to start the player out with a decent amount of those. Super Missiles would have to be rationed out as the player goes through the bosses though, as they'd absolutely destroy earlier bosses.
Actually, there is a Boss Rush hack.  On the same japanese page as Search for Items, Limit, and Legacy, there's one for "Super Metroid Battle," which is basically a straight run through all the bosses with a max of like 5 E-Tanks, ~60 or so Missiles, ~20 Supers, ~ 20 Power Bombs, and all the standard items.
I dunno, I'd hardly count that as a straight boss rush hack, since it has some puzzles and regular enemies thrown in during the rooms in between the bosses. I was thinking more like a Castlevania style boss rush. Although maybe the OP is thinking of something different still.
Green-Kirby, ROAR!
If I recall right Boostguardian made one. Though I never see him around any more.

It would be very easy to make one. What exact item order is the current ideal for any% runs, just so I can give you realistic ammo/energy counts for each fight?

A straight boss rush would be better, pure bosses and a timer for speed challenges. AFAIK the order is this:

ridley > torizo > spore spawn > kraid > crocomire > phantoon > botwoon > draygon > golden torizo > real ridley > mother brain

After the first Ridley, is there still a timer to get out of the station, and if it's going to be a one-direction runner, are there expansions along the escape?

I assume that between every boss fights you will get the items you are supposed to get between the fights. I think that for health powerups a good idea would be to start with 3 and have another 3 in the wait room, similar to kirby so you have to make good use of your only tanks.
I'd assume it'd be better to use the skip Ceres option altogether and just have the player start at the ship on Zebes. Btw, anyone got a link to the Boostguardian boss rush patch if its still in existence?

Wait, are you looking for boss training or just wanting a fun, fight-oriented hack? Super Metroid Battle (same page as Legacy and Limit) is perfect if you want the latter. As for a timer, though... (*brainstorm brainstorm*)

Ceres Ridley pretty much wouldn't work, mainly because Ceres doesn't like you leaving it without going on the elevator. The only way I could see the timer work is if we had the Mother Brain fight first and used Drewseph's "OMG THE EYE BEAM STEALS EVERYTHING" script along with some way to deactivate Hyper Beam.

EDIT: woops, simupost with BT. Also, it would probably be easier in the end to just do an ASM hack to make MB's timer activate on a different action, like using the Gold Chozo statue.

I don't see the problem. Can't you just make a path leading to an elevator? Is it too tough to add items in there? I can understand sending you to Zebes and starting the collection there.

Nope, sorry. The first room in Ceres is very heavily scripted and basically uneditable, and doing a room transition to any room without the heading "Ceres" MASSIVELY screws up the graphics.
Yeah, I'd say the best thing to do would just be to set the skip Ceres bit. It's not like you can die in the first Ridley battle anyway. Plus if you're going to time the battles, it'd actually be better to "lose" the battle intentionally time-wise, yet that takes a lot less skill than actually winning the battle.

You should have to beat Ridley, IMO. Can you make heated rooms or something so that having less than 30 kills you after the battle, or can you make it so that Ridley doesn't leave at all until he's hit 100 times?

Also, can you change the header to make it a Ceres room? Can you at least make a floor tile crack once Ridley drops the hatchling so it becomes shootable so you can hide an etank under there or something?
