Just wondering, how did this name for Mecha Ridley come up? I always am wondering that.

And on the topic of Mecha Ridley (or Iron Ted), he was way too hard to beat on 10% Hard Mode. >.< It took me way too long to beat him, because I didn't know I had to direct his head (during second phase) to the middle, and not the top. I now know that thanks to see a video on Youtube.
Thread title:
He's the reason I've never completed a succesful 15% >=[
Iron T.E.D.

(stands for Totally Evil Dickhead)

This video helped me get through the trouble spots with Mecha Ridley:

Impressive. Most impressive.

I thought he was rather easy compared to Ridley...
Ridley's a piece of piss. This guy's got the whole missile/lasers/claws thing that I've never been able to avoid. Maybe I'll give it another shot.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Ridley is the easiest boss in the game. Stand under him and shoot up. :/

In lower% runs there's really no reason why he should be a threat to you at all.

Maybe my morphing skillz suck, as I have never been able to do that and live in a low percent run. Iron Ted on the other hand I find simple. Maybe it is because I walljump at Ridley that makes walljumping against Mecha-Ridley easier for me... Really, you just have to keep in the upper left corner to avoid his claw swipe and his missiles you just shoot and then you shoot him to move him back again. His eye laser is the only random annoyance and that is only a problem when he swipes at you at the same time.

Shifty Leader
That M2k2 guy
MetroidMyst: You're probably shooting ridley too fast. If you hit him too much in a short timespan, he does his fire attack and then tailspins immediately after. You're supposed to only shoot a couple times per turn, and NEVER shoot him if he's spitting fire.

As for Iron Ted, he's definitely far harder on 9% than on any%. I actually find him easier in 10% because I have a super missile saved up. It just takes a long time to kill him, and it takes one slash to die against him. He's just one of the quickest bosses if you have six super missiles against him. If not, he's a real pain. That's the reason I suggest SA and four super missiles for 5 of the 6 extra %. I think Hello-Jump is the last one I suggested, but I don't remember. It might have been Speed Booster just for speed. :^/
@ Metroid MST - Yeah, Ridley is pathetically easy in a low% run, you don't even need to turn into Morph Ball during the battle. Here's the same guy (one who made the video of Mecha Ridley battle I posted here) beating him pretty quickly:

I find Ridley much hard on higher % runs due to him attacking you so frequently as long as you have Missile ammo.

It would probably be amazingly hard to beat Iron Ted with only 2 missiles in a 9% Hard run (only in PAL versions, right?). I was thinking about getting a Super Missile as my tenth item in the hard mode run, as that would save a lot of time on the Zebetites, but just went for the extra Missile expansion in the end, which didn't really turn out as bad as I had expected.

That must be my problem, he always spins his tail at me and so I always avoided that by walljumping endlessly, which hurts my hands, which makes him harder than Mecha (Deal with it.) Ridley. I'll have to try that on my next low% run.
